When Martin (3dtorus) uploaded the cover photo onto Twitter, I thought it would make a good basis for a song.

So I decided to make one where the photo would be the sole sound source.

How do you create a song entirely from a picture?

Virtual ANS - that's how. A brilliant piece of software that you load a photo into and it converts it into sound. Firstly the image was manipulated and edited then used in Virtual ANS to create all of the basic sounds.

Two 4 minute tracks were created in Cataract (by Glitchmachines), one with a dub type delay the other with a lot of modulation to create variations in the rhythm and then layered.

Some portions of the resulting sound were time-stretched to create drones and other sections were layered for texture.

The excellent Nasty DLA mkIII and Fusion Delay VSTs were also used on the song.
