Originally invented by John Taverner, the In Nomine format was a popular structural device for consort music of the 16 th and 17 th Century. In an In Nomine a quotation, usually from plainchant, is stretched into a long cantus firmus from which the rest of the music interacts with. Due to the nature of the commission, this particular In Nomine of mine quotes the Lithuanian folk tune Aš padainuosiu. This lovely little melody circles on itself in quite an endearing manner, this circling defined the basic structure of the In Nomine before I in turn used many members of the ensemble to distract from this whispered music.

The work was performed by Ensemble Synaesthesis as part of Crossroads International Contemporary Music Festival 2016 (Salzburg)
