Popcorn is a music style that originated in Belgium in the late 1960s and remained popular in the 1970s. The music style is named after the first dance where this music was played: "The Popcorn", opened in 1969 in Vrasene in the Kriekelaarstraat near Sint-Niklaas in the Waasland. The name of the 'POPCORN' dancing comes from a James Brown hit at that time, "Mother Popcorn" from the same year, and was chosen by Gerrit Francken, one of the "popcorn"-DJs.
Other important dancings from that time were “De Viertap” (Rillaar), “The Golden Gate” (Retie), “The Groove” (Ostend), “The Versailles” (Ostend), “Champou” (Wichelen), etc.

This is my first mix with my own choice of popcorn songs (mostly instrumental songs).
Some sound familiar, and others will sound new to you (but no less beautiful for that reason).
