In preparation for my trip to Kenya, I've been researching popular music in Africa. I should have guessed, but they have a thing for dancehall! There's also a thriving House scene based in South Africa. I put together this mix of classic and modern dancehall, featuring several Kenyan Dancehall artists. Those of us who enjoy midtempo 808 bass music in the States will likely dig what the kids are calling "Future Dancehall" and "BassHall" in this mix. The tempo speeds up at the end, giving way to dancehall-inpsired 4-on-the-floor House grooves. Enjoy!
