Jouhl (pronounced Joel), has been a part of Purp & Soul since inception. His first outing as a producer made waves in the house scene with “spend it all” on Akbal music. Now he resides on the darker side of the roster creating haunting electronic analogue sounds. His track “Vodou” was quickly snapped up by iconic label 'My Favourite Robot' which introduces local vocalist Gaika in an eery late night affair, with a driving sub and ethereal synths, the almost spoken hook will no doubt echo in your mind.
Whilst his journeys regularly drift into Techno and Electronica, Jouhl's DJ sets are diverse and always energetic. His love affair with dark music took on a new life in 2013, knocking shoulders with producers in the capital. Jouhl has recently been called upon to lend his hand to a remix of Rui Da Silva feat. Robert Owens whilst Vinyl only label “Get Slow” used his talent on Frank Vizzo’s EP - Unless your memory.
2014 promises to be a year moving forward, working with vocalists, and recent tracks being heard in Watergate and at ADE, Jouhl is certainly turning heads.
