Matthew Herbert’s The Audience opens this mix. It originally closed out Herbert’s masterpiece album, Bodily Functions, released in 2001. I admittedly and regrettably and somewhat embarrassingly never heard this album untill a few months ago (despite DJ Koze’s remix of It’s Only being one of my all time favorites). I discovered The Audience a few months back, released on the Accidental Label. I knew I had to start a mix with this song, it sounds just as fresh and exciting as any track I’ve dug up in 2024.
