This hard/mimimal techno mix is a bit of a tribute to my one of my favorite internet DJs, Dylan Drazen (hence the title) who is a massivly great hard techno and house DJ. Hes also played at my friends house parties in the past which is extremely cool, however now as hes quite famous everywhere else but where hes from, Brooklyn. Hopefully that will some day change but in the mean time I thought I would have myself a go at mixing some hard techno for my own amusement. Some of these records I got for a dollar or two at Planet X before they closed up, others I got from my friend who got them from Dylan Drazen himself (unwanted promos apparently), The synewaves came from a crate of records I bought for $20.00, and others like the Rotation and Drumcodes I bought myself at full price because they were so damn good. Those Rotations also have quite a bit of a 1992 deep house vibe to them which I really like.

A few years after making this mix I got really into collecting hard/minimal techno for a year and a half. This first one right here is still one of the best as it represents the sort of techno I heard when I actually went to raves. I saw T-1000 three times as well. One time in Asbury Park when he had a broken arm and could only spin with one hand. Another time in a tiny nightclub in CT where I danced like crazy. Once again at the roller rink behind the Rockaway Mall in NJ. That last time was funny as I had just bought his Live at Sabatage CD at that very mall a few weeks prior. That roller rink is where I went to birthday parties as a kid, so it was wild seeing a godfather of Detroit Techno actually play there.

That roller rink is now a lumber yard (as of 12/29/2017 the building is now a "Bobs Discount Furniture" with salesmen so pushy, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in a used car lot). Times change and not for the better. Techno was always about the future back then. Now that the future is all dubstep and "smart" phones. Take me back please, the future sucks ass!
