Music and sounds of Soulicious

Soulicious is a joint collaboration of two blokes, JP & Wigs.

They play Underground House music, drawing their passion to Groove with the slogan 'Groove. Soulful. Deep. House'. What you can expect to hear is an amalgamation of soulful forms of music to make you groove. Playing classics of the past and newer releases.

Their inspiration in sound comes from Kerri Chandler, Black Coffee, Bodhi Satva, Michelle Weeks, East End Dubs, Groove Assassins, Peven Everett, Kenny Bobien, Terry Hunter, Bobby & Steve, Joey Negro, Atjazz to name a very few.

Between them both, they have had 20 years playing deep and soulful house.

For Wigs it all started when he was in a group who produced a hip hop album in the mid 1980s and took part in a UK tour with Sugar Bear. Inspired by many well know household named DJs. He has travelled extensively following many of the DJs on their personal journeys whilst honing his own DJ skills and personal style.

JP aka J77 cut his teeth into the US garage scene in the early 90’s. He has played on various internet radio platforms, Evolution FM, MoveDaHouse, Audio Bunker, Soul Central Radio, as well as playing out at a few small venues and house parties. He later on went to start Audio Bunker, a well-known internet radio broadcast of live DJs. He then went on to newer projects and started a fresh with a new DJ name, J77.

Both born and raised in London, they initially had met through Audio Bunker where they both played. After a departure from the station for ventures new, they lost contact and both, unknowingly, relocated to Poole/Bournemouth. Upon a chance post on Facebook they both realised that they were in the same area, and hooked up, and reformed their friendship, both where inspired by each other’s passion for the similar taste, instantly wanting to start a new project in music and an interest in forming a DJ partnership.

Bringing their passion for Soulful House flavoured music together, Soulicious was the birth of this. They found on nights out that the music scene in the South West was not catering to their groove and felt confident that there is a better form of music to explore and educate a new style of grooving too for the masses.
Soulicious, have recently played their first gig at a venue in Poole with a hunger for more, and won on a new crowd of people. Their passion for the music is even more than usual and investing time to seek newer venues to spread their sound and passion for groove.
