Folky sounds & Brazilian grooves

It starts with the wonderful Studio Rio version of Bill Withers‘ classic „Lovely Day“, the relaxed grooving bossa sound suits the song extremely well. Then it continues with Toco, because his music fits perfectly. He has just released his fourth album „Riviera“ and I really like it. Sunny Brazilian songs with a subtle pop and folk appeal. Very nice!
Erlend Oye from Kings Of Convenience has a new project on the go: La Comitiva. The album of the same name was recently released. Wonderful folk songs with partly Italian lyrics, Brazilian flair and a soul feeling. No matter what Erlend Oye does in his many solo projects, he always succeeds. This album is simply wonderful and could develop into a minor summer hit.
The Brazilian singer Roge from Rio de Janeiro now lives in Los Angeles. There he met Thomas Brennek from the Menahan Street Band, which turned out to be a lucky encounter and led to the album „Curyman“. This was also the first release on Thomas Brennek’s new label Diamond West Records. It turned out to be a fabulous album, with the legendary Arthur Verocai responsible for the arrangements and produced by Thomas Brennek.
The highlight of the week comes from Bruno Berle, another Brazilian singer and musician. He recently released his new album „No Reino Dos Afetos 2“ on Far Out Records. The songs are hauntingly beautiful and unique. Brazilian folk lo-fi miniatures with subtle electronics. Great, the album of the week!
The Dining Rooms are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their existence and are releasing the new album „Songs To Make Love To“ to mark the occasion. A worthy album to celebrate the anniversary in style.
After 5 years there is finally a new album from Lucas Arruda. He is one of the most talented contemporary artists from Brazil and his fusion sound inspired by soul, jazz and funk has taken my fancy. The new album „Ominira“ is great again. Have fun listening to it!
