Sounds of RSTRCTD

RSTRCTD is an embodiment of the philosophy that less could indeed be more.
Consisting of 2 old friends Daniel Hoogerwerf and Leslie Brohm, they try to capture the essence and soul of the old and the new house music genre's into their music.

The two met at a local youth centre back in the year 2000 where Daniel started his DJ'ing endeavours and Leslie was gigging with his local rockband called the 'Bakfietsband'.
Back then and there, their first project called Protocult was born. Not too sure on what genre they wanted to settle on, styles varied from minimal and tech-house to drum & bass back to progressive and deep house.. so basically everything!
And with it combining unfamiliar and unorthodox methods to create new sounds and melodic experiments.

Along the road the name Protocult was dropped and with it came a new direction. It seems combining everything we could get our hands on was not really sustainable in the long run.. who knew?

This new concept, branded Restricted Sessions, gained quite a bit of attention within the underground DJ-community due to the famous Progressional Education mix-episodes. However, it was near the end of 2012 that the name RSTRCTD was launched in order to re-focus their attention on producing.. and with it, the concept evolved into a new 'less-is-more' approach. The styles were brought down to a single blend of funk, deep- and tech house.

While occasionally posting works-in-progress on Soundcloud, Devon, or SRS_BSNS as some might know him, invited them into doing a remix of Correlate's "Don't Lie". This remix was very well received and RSTRCTD was given the opportunity to release their first EP.

Their debut EP called 'Existence', was released on the 23rd of August 2013 on the ++ label.
Stay tuned with by following them at Facebook or twitter.
