Nova Caza — Artist Biography

Nova Caza, the artistic identity of Dutch DJ and producer Tim Niewenhuis, has been part of the electronic music scene for more than three decades. His journey began at school and birthday parties before he entered the music industry professionally in 1990. Just two years later, he released his first record, Rave The Bass, under the name DJ Spinoff on Dance Factory Records. This was followed by Alright Keep On Moving as part of the Bull and a Virgin Project.

During the early 1990s, Tim and a group of friends launched the legendary Next Generation parties at De Hoeve in Hoofddorp. These nights placed him alongside artists including Stacey Pullen, Marcello, Dimitri and Joost van Bellen, helping establish his reputation within the emerging Dutch dance scene.

His fascination with electronic music technology eventually led to the founding of Midi Amsterdam. Since the mid-1990s, the specialist store has become an important destination for DJs, producers and musicians seeking innovative instruments, professional equipment and expert knowledge. This lifelong connection between music and technology continues to play an essential role in his creative work.

After residencies at Chanders Residence, De Fietznfabriek and VET! Deep Techno Club Night at Club NL, Nova Caza has entered a new and energetic chapter. He is currently a resident DJ at both The Deep Club and Crazyland. At The Deep Club, he explores the deeper side of electronic music through deep house, melodic house, progressive house and techno. His distinctive performances are driven by years of experience, carefully constructed musical journeys and his trademark four-deck mixing style.

As a producer, Nova Caza continues to develop his sound through releases including Techtoy on XQisit, Space in Town on Suntree Records, Wood on Back 2 Nature and his remix of Soethout. His music reflects the same approach as his DJ sets: deep, hypnotic, energetic and always designed to keep the dance floor moving.

Tim also produces under his alter ego Acid Boy, a project inspired by the unmistakable sound of the legendary Roland TB-303. Every Acid Boy track has a running time of exactly three minutes and three seconds—a playful reference to the machine that shaped acid house. The project made its recording debut in 2025 with the three-track release 3:03 • Appendix I on Epsilon Records, featuring F%$#, The Vamp and Yo G.

Whether performing as Nova Caza or exploring the raw, hypnotic world of Acid Boy, Tim remains driven by the same passion that started it all: discovering new sounds, connecting people through music and creating unforgettable moments on the dance floor.
