The nightlife has evolved over the past couple of years and to top that off, sounds have gone from disco all the way to downtempo. Venues have now gone from large scale to more intimate settings where a crowd of less then 150 is distinguished as a success in today’s party’s or nightlife.

Judy Thotong Malatji professionally known as Judy Jay is a young South African DJ and record producer. Having performed alongside industry giants like Uncle Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Christos, DJ Fresh, Lulo Café, Lamiez Holworthy, Lady Sakhe, Chymamusique, Da Capo, DJ Shimza !Sooks, Ralf Gum, FKA Mash, Oscar Mbo just to mention a few, has engraved her as one of the greats in the industry.

Her career has rapidly grown in a short space of time and this has seen her get invited to appear on major radio stations around the country and abroad. She has also appeared on television shows namely Hit Refresh, The Lockdown House Party and Vinny’s House.

She has also been included to perform at extremely popular events such as Deep Town Jozi (where she once had residency), The Lowdown, KLK Fridays, We House Sundays, Bread 4 Soul Sessions just to mention a few. Her very own event which she hosts back home where she brewed her talent has attracted a substantial number of patrons and she has decided to host it on an annual basis.

One of her career highlights was getting an invite as a guest speaker at the Dance Music Summit where she got to speak about her career and interact with her followers.

With great guidance and mentorship from those she has surrounded herself with; Judy has seen her career reaching and smashing goals rapidly and she has even grabbed the attention of her country’s president who mentioned her by name in his monthly journal and on top of it all she was named Champion for the Diesel Denim Friday competition making her the very first winner in 2021.

Her dream of having to play internationally is materializing as she has now earned some respect from and pounded her footprint at the neighbouring countries.

The amount of work she has put in and the following she has gained are clear indications that the world is her oyster and it is only a matter of time till she cracks it open and get the just rewards.
