I am currently seeking to create music that invites active listening, an approach I am calling Prodomic, a name derived from the Greek words for pattern and structure. By Prodomic music, I mean music:

  1. Produced primarily on a DAW using digital sound production and processing to their fullest extent to make musical meaning
  2. The reproduction mode being the remix, rather than duplication with interpretation
  3. Intensively sonically and harmonically structured, with systematic development of ideas, and complex relationships between inner parts, at both coarse and fine levels. Therefore pieces are likely to be of 15 mins duration or greater.
  4. Utilising the full dynamic range for expression, and concomitantly intended for the listener in a quiet environment where the music is a primary focus
  5. Incorporating drumming, syncopation and a sense of groove timings
  6. Making use of noise expressively, that noise ranging from culturally referent Foleys, through digitally processed multi and polytonal sounds, detuning, to managed dissonance. Or, to define from another direction, making full use of electronic sound design possibilities
