Sounds of La Croisière Folk

Wavre, Belgium

La Croisière Folk is a weekly 60-minute music podcast created in September 2019 by journalist Eric Cooper. Its ambition: to introduce as many listeners as possible to every facetor rather, every form of folk music.
Because here, there are no boundaries or fixed definitions. Folk, with a capital F, doesn’t really exist as a single entity: it unfolds into a wide range of traditions, influences, and sensibilities. From Belgium to the United States, via Brittany, Quebec, or Australia, La Croisière Folk freely navigates between traditional folk, folk rock, folk trad, bluegrass, roots, and Americana.
Produced, hosted, and curated by Eric Cooper, the show embraces a handcrafted, demanding, and open approach. Each week, it offers an eclectic selection blending contemporary discoveries with timeless classics, driven by a spirit of sharing and musical storytelling.
Among its signature features, the “1-2-3” segment highlights an album through three tracks, while two episodes each month are dedicated entirely to female artists, shining a light on the voices of women in folk music. And in keeping with a timeless tradition, every episode also includes a poetic interlude.
Both refined and accessible, La Croisière Folk speaks to devoted enthusiasts and curious newcomers alike, guided by a single principle: to let great music be heard—beyond labels.
