The Story behind Babywelt Recordings

In 1992 two friends Tommi Kraft and Gerd Wischnewski started to create mixtapes with individual collage artworks supporting the sound of the mix.
The brother of Tommi Kraft was a seller of exclusive cars in the north of NRW so they had the possibility to use rare sportscars to travel to the raves at the weekends. The cars always had powerful hifi-systems so the three often stayed on the parking lots playing their mixtapes. They got to know more and more ravers so they swapped mixtapes in the beginning but after they had been asked for more the three decided to make it more professionell - to do the mixes without any mixing errors, try to use rare tracks, and developed a more catchy artwork for each tape.
After people told them they like the tapes, play them on private after parties they found the label Babywelt Recordings.
They released several mixes per month and copied them on between 5 to 25 tapes.
Sometimes it runs by itself sometimes they sold nearly nothing.
In the following years they grow in the number of involved, dj's and raves and they lived as motorravers, travelling to raves and clubs from the north to the south of Germany, all this starting from northern NRW, nearby Bielefeld.

Most things don't last forever so the involved people changed from time to time, many crazy things happened in this wild 90s and 00 years and the label moved from NRW to Berlin.

Since the end of the 90s the mixes also had been released on CD-R format and had been sold in different countries.

Till today Babywelt Recordings supports with the Mixes genres like Deep Techno, Acid, Techno, Hardcore, UK Hardcore, Techno House, Hardtrance, Deep House, Hardhouse, Gabba, Tribe Techno, Ambient House, EBM or Ambient.

There had never been financial reasons behind, the aim was always to give the music lovers something special - the unfolding of emotional energy through an energetic ride on well selected, often hard to find tracks in a good order...

A part of the 30year long output of Babywelt Recordings is to find on Discogs, a part of the cassette- and cd-releases is to find on Mixcloud, Youtube and other digital sources, a part got lost on the wild rave parties of the Golden Years...

Babywelt Recordings was and is still honored to the listener who finds echoed his/her feelings in the mix and not at least to the the artists who created this powerful or deep going sounds.
