ReStructure Mix Update (4/19/26): ”Droid” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mito

Mito is an Italo-disco project from Italo Portesani and Stefano Secchi (later became Secchi “I Say Yeah”. Their single “Droid” was released in 1982 on Italian dance label Zanza Records and is the cover version which was originally released in 1978 under the name Automat. This full electronic production is the first element of Italian disco music which was making quite a stir in clubs around the world and was the third layer of the return of disco music since the end of the 70s. Even though many producers and groups from Italy were a large part of the disco sound during the disco era. This new sound was electronic and innovative for a time where breaks and long intros were being called “synth-pop” on the American market even though the formula remained “disco”. “Droid” has a simple arrangement which outlines a heavy keyboard sound which could be mistaken for a “Phantom Of The Opera” with the ominous feel. Italo-disco in the dance market during the early 80s was fresh and exciting and this number found its way onto many medleys and mixes in this genre.

I have taken the 12” version of “Droid” and reapplied a new edit and arrangement for this ReStructure Mix intended to pay homage to the 80s Italo-disco sound. I have given the remix more space to venture into the areas which it does and also a breakdown for the finish.
