phyla.info - This is an improvisation I did to accompany the research in whirling practice by Naïma Ferré. I used the music software Ableton Live to generate beats and loop my voice. Some of the voice is inspired by the Katajjait singing of Inuit women, some is throat singing.
Whirling is a traditional practice of the Sufi, Naïma Ferré is revisiting this practice from the perspective of a contemporary dancer. This track was recorded at our first attempt to bring in electronic music into this.
