In second week of March 1994, youth radio station Hitz FM featured on every Melbourne TV news channel and newspaper. Petitions signed by listeners swelled to over 30,000.

Despite hopes for a last-minute reprieve, the station had to 'switch off' on the Saturday night. This is the final hour.

After 30 years, this recording is now available online for the first time.
