Dr.Best - FUTURE FUNK SQUAD Tribute-Mix (2020-09)

by Dr.Best

Okay, it's time for a new Tribute-Mix: the focus is on the London-based producer, DJ and remixer FUTURE FUNK SQUAD. The man behind this pseudonym is Glen Nicholls - one of the most respected and renowned figures in the international Breakbeat scene.
Up to date he has released a total of 4 highly acclaimed albums, he ran several own Breakbeat labels (like En:vision Records, Default Records, Re:Connect,...) and toured as a DJ around the globe. He is also in great demand as a remixer - several well-known artists like The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Mylo, UNKLE, Massive Attack, Bomb The Bass, Yazoo, Moloko, and Hybrid commissioned Future Funk Squad to rework their music.

In the first part of his Tribute-Mix, Dr.Best takes a look at the classic breakbeat sound of Future Funk Squad from the early to mid 2000s.
Part two is focused on his current works: his highly acclaimed album "Darker Days" (released in 2014) is in the spotlight, as well as two of his latest singles.

By the way: a new Future Funk Squad album is already announced to be released soon! The brand new single "Lock Down" - a collaboration with The Crystal Method - is a little foretaste:
