Biography
DJ Nabil is a Tunisian-born, Geneva-based DJ and producer whose career spans more than three decades of dedication to underground electronic music. The second of three brothers, he began mixing in the early 1990s, heavily influenced by his older brother Mourad, who introduced him to the revolutionary sounds coming out of Detroit and Chicago. From the very beginning, Nabil developed a distinctive style built on energy, groove, and a deep respect for the origins of techno and house.
He first made his name on the Tunisian local scene, honing his technical skills and musical identity before relocating to Geneva, Switzerland in 1997. There, he quickly established himself as one of the city’s most respected and consistent DJs. He became a resident at the influential Le Prétexte club from 1997 to 2002, a period that helped shape Geneva’s underground electronic movement. He later held long-standing residencies at FBI Club (Fridays, until 2004) and Ethno Bar (Saturdays), while also performing regularly at key venues including Alhambar, Fenomeno, 2ème Bureau, L’Aiglon, L’Ethno, and Scandale.
His reputation quickly extended beyond Switzerland, taking his sound to dancefloors across Europe. In the summer of 2012, he was invited to perform at the iconic Detroit Electronic Music Festival, marking a major milestone in his career and a symbolic return to the roots of his musical inspiration.
In the studio, DJ Nabil is equally active as a producer. His releases on respected labels such as Soul People Music, Selekta Records, and Lace Recordings reflect a sound that blends raw rhythm, deep atmospheres, and dancefloor-driven energy. He is also the co-producer of the Diaspora216 radio show on Detroit’s Deep Space Radio, a platform dedicated to showcasing underground electronic music and connecting global scenes.
