Listen here: hearthis.at/diagg/2023-04-25-d...-dj-diagg-mix09

Drum & Bass for Grannies is your monthly show mixed by Diagg with old sounds,
new mixes, and 4 decks!
You will hear Drum'n'Bass from 1997 to 2005 (mostly), ranging from Techstep to Neurofunk
to liquid funk mixed altogether on four decks to sound fresh !

As Drum'n'Bass for Grannies is a nonprofit show, there is not much financial investment
involved, so everything is mixed without a controller using Rekordbox software.

Hi everyone, after one month break (Ramdan time), Drum'n'Bass for grannies is back !
Crazier than ever with this time a fair amount of bangers. I usually try to avoid rinced classics
(aren't you bored of hearing the Nine after 22 years or so ?!) but I had that feeling that
it was time for some of them to get the "Grany" treatment and here it is, raw, fresh and fast
like a 2 to 3 AM run on the dancefloor...

I admit that the final mix is way better than what I expected during the set preparation.
I generally work by finding balots of two or three tracks that melt well together then do
the same thing with all the balots. I was confident that all pieces were good on their own,
but couldn't figure the full impact until I do the mix, And …oh God, there is so many Layers
that goes flowlessly from a track to another, the sound stay harsh while occilating between
melancolic and joyful momments… I really love it!

Noticeable oldies and discoveries:

Spree - lost from the get go : That voice is so sweet and so emotional, I can't push it
out of my head plus it mix up easily with so much stuffs

Patricia Marx - Sem Pensar (DJ Marky & XRS Remix): Yet another wonderful voice,
I wish i knew Patricia ten years earlier as she is a so good singer. Thanks to the men Marky
and Patife to bring her to the Drum'n'Bass world. Speaking of the remix, Marky and Xrs just
preserved perfectly the essence of the original. And if you love that tune ; Marky has another
remix that include a second verse that has never been released, you can hear it
here ( youtube.com/live/PtIlW3TQRdA?f...hare&t=2581)!

Break - Ruff 'n' Tumble/How It Should Be: Excellent 12" from Break released on Invaderz.
I found Ruff 'n' Tumble in this Dj Darrell set (mixcloud.com/InvaderzDJ/the-in...system-dec-2004) and was amazed by the hypnotic loop in the middle of the song that disappear
too early for my taste, so I decided (thanks rekordbox) to make my own edit .

Art of Noise - Eye of a needle (Lemon D Remix): Loved this tune from day one when eared
on my very third Drum'nBass CD Doc Scott - Mixmag (youtube.com/watch?v=iwqydlk6dl0)
(The first was Goldie - Timeless, the second was MetalHeadz Platinium Break). As the tune
is all about subtility , I never expected to play it in a dancefloor set. The association with
Technical Itch - DarkHalf give to both tunes something refreshing and unexpected.

Lovebirds ft Galliano - Icarus (Syncopix Remix): I probably already told it, but Syncopix was
a so underrated producer and this tune prove it once again. Perfectly capturing the vibe
of the original at 170 BPM!
