Praxis Psy Dub Set - Intention 14.5

This mix was made for Intention 14.5, at Crystal Creek on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Live, improvised djembe drumming was layered on top of this mix. Thematically, the set begins with downtempo psy dub then builds up into bass crescendos. Psy dub(step) is much calmer than most sub-genres of dubstep, so it matched the summer sunshine vibe of the event. Good times with my beloved community!

At 59:15, the dub is layered with a more middle eastern sound. Many ladies in our community love dancing to this sub-genre of music, which can be used for bellydancing. The combination of powerful bass plus exotic instruments and voices is awesome. The song Habibi, by David Starfire, goes out to my dear friend Tarek who is on a mission to bring his family out of a war-torn part of the Middle East and into Canada. Hala hala, Habibi.

This was my first performance on the main stage of an event. My goal for Intention 15 is to improve my mixing and record my live performance so that you can hear my drumming too. Thanks to ektoplazm.com for providing a lot of copyleft music for this non-commercial performance.
