Music For Two To Seven Guitars live at Bossa

by Boat Burning

June 28th, 2017, Washington D.C. - Ben Harbert (Los Angeles Electric 8) and Chris Hamley (Alarms & Controls, Circus Lupus) adapt 20th-century art music to electric guitars for a live performance at Bossa in D.C.’s Adams Morgan.

The program begins with two duets "Les tierces alternées" by Claude Debussy, and "Guitar Phase” based on Steve Reich's "Piano Phase.”

For the second half of the show, the duo is joined by five more guitarists -- Boat Burning’s Andras Fekete and Jonathan Matis, ethnomusicologist Eric Murray, Dennis Kane of Domingues and Kane, and Aram Sinnreich of Brave New Girl -- to play pieces by Peter Yates and Wayne Siegel that transform electric guitars into humming and shimmering layered tones.
