The Barbary Ghost

Alameda, CA, USA

DJ and music producer of over 25 years. Originally I DJ'd under the name Rick A. Mortis, and focused my sets on Deathrock, Punk, New Wave, Goth-Rock, and related styles. As i got older I changed my name to DJ FACT.50 for about 15 years. A reference to one of my formative albums "New Order - Movement (Factory Records Catalog #50)". As I got even older, I realized I was into so much different music and spinning in so many different types of scenes, I needed a new handle. I also realized that I needed to tie all of my different musical pursuits together under one brand name. The Barbary Ghost came about as a reference to my love and pride for the Bay Area of SF California. My home for over 25 years.

My last 15 years of mixes can be found at mixcloud.com/thebarbaryghost, however I am slowly transferring them hear as well.

I have been told that I have really great musical tastes. I think that's up to you to decide. I just like sharing music that I think has something redeeming to it. Either a great groove, a catchy melody, poignant lyrics, beautiful atmospheres, all kinds of things draw my ear to songs.
