The entire kick sequence was just a Moogerfooger lowpass filter being manipulated by it's control processor sibling (recorded through the MTR for a touch of classy old English EQ).
I'm planning on giving away some of my Ableton Live Drum Racks containing such synthesised analogue thuds, tiks, donks and squonks, plus some bespoke effects and processing chains in the near future at sampleism.com. Drop me a note if you want to be notified when that hits.

I tried something different this time to break my habits and made the entire track completely "in the box" with Ableton Live.

No live loop triggering and switching, no outboard mixers and effects, no analogue EQ and filters, no MIDI controllers, knobs, faders or foot pedals.

Conclusion: being outside my comfort zone is uncomfortable and weird. Even the lack of blinking meter lights was disconcerting. I think I'll have to do a live analogue, cables and controllers, effects and EQ "out of the box" version for sake of comparison.
Kudos to:
⚫ d-Rektional for the cool acid pattern: http://soundcloud.com/d-rektional
⚫ Kenton Control Freak: control of the RM1x's cutoffs, channel volumes and clap pitch
