I tried something different this time to break my habits and made the entire track completely "in the box" with Ableton Live.

No live loop triggering and switching, no outboard mixers and effects, no analogue EQ and filters, no MIDI controllers, knobs, faders or foot pedals.

Conclusion: being outside my comfort zone is uncomfortable and weird. Even the lack of blinking meter lights was disconcerting. I think I'll have to do a live analogue, cables and controllers, effects and EQ "out of the box" version for sake of comparison.
