Most of the fans of soul and funk music know Robert Whitfield more as "Goodie". He used the name "Goodie" when collaborated with the famous funk group called Gap Band. He was born and raised in Dallas,Tx. He developed a love for music at an early age and became interested in the saxophone, flute, piano and guitar. He studied music composition, theory and saxophone from Jr. High through his college years. His earliest influences were gospel, jazz, 70’s R&B and funk. Although Jazz was Goodie’s true beginnings where he developed a keen sense of artistry, stage presence and entertaining, today he is known for his talents as a vocalist, keyboardist, songwriter and producer.
How many people really know that Robert Whitfield released a single before he collaborated with the Gap Band ?
Robert Whitfield with his fantastic voice released a single entitled "Keep on dancing to the music / I write songs" on Monterey Records. Both songs were written by himself. It seems to me that he was a great songwriter.
I want to note that Jack Daugherty had released an album under the name The Jack Daugherty Orchestra called "Carmel by the sea" on the same label in 1976.
Later Robert collaborated with the Gap Band. He appeared as a backing vocalist on the Gap Band album called "The Gap Band II" in 1979 on Mercury Records. Next year he appeared again with the Gap Band as keyboardist on the album called "Gap Band III" on Mercury Records. The same year he collaborated with the group Yarbrough & Peoples on the album "The two of us". On this album he appeared on keyboards and backing vocals.
In 1982 he released the debut album entitled "Call me Goodie" on Total Experience Records. I think that he was influenced by his collaboration with the Gap Band, because most of the songs which were included on the album were funky. However some songs are great such as "L.A" and "You and I".
This album was recorded at Total Experience Recording Studios, Hollywood. The musicians were Alisa Peoples on keyboards, Calvin Yarbrough, Louis Cabaza on Synthesizer, Ronnie Kaufman, Melvin Webb, David Fine and David Crockett on drums, Melvin Webb on percussion, Fred Jenkins, Lonnie Simmons, Mike McKinney, Jimi Macon and Glenn Nightingale on guitar, Dionne Oliver, Robert Wilson and Victor "Widetrack" Hill on bass. Background vocals by Charlie Wilson, Alisa Peoples, Calvin Yarbrough, Maxine Waters, Julia Waters, Rudy Taylor, Pat Peterson, Temple McKinney, Troy Peoples, Ronnie Kaufman and Val Young.

Morgan Bouldin has been in the music business for the past twenty years. Bouldin is from Houston Texas and has worked in the R&B and jazz genres. In 1996 he launched his independent Heart Sound label. His latest release, “The World Is Mine” is the third release for the smooth jazz/R&B artist Morgan Bouldin. This newest album is equally as creative as his previous two releases. Every track has been written, performed and produced by Morgan Bouldin. Bouldin greatly appreciates various cultures and this love for world music is reflected in his songs. Bouldin has written his CD liner notes and explains the stories behind each track. “The World Is Mine” is the title first track. Kym Smith’s vocals and Bouldin’s smooth piano skills are mesmerizing. “All Day Long” is suave and funky with an infectious melody. Bouldin narrates in his liner notes that “My Groove” is “the result of what I call a spontaneous combustion because I literally wrote this song in minutes. I named it my groove because I think it typifies my style with tight, funky drum patterns and deep, low, syncopated bass patterns and repetitive keyboard riffs and arrangements with chordal harmonies.” “More Bounce To The Ounce” highlights what a gifted artist Morgan Bouldin really is. He seemingly effortlessly blends R&B with jazz and it works. “Faz Frio” is a alluring interlude. According to the liner notes, “They help the writer to better tell his story more subtly. As a composer, you not only want a person to listen and enjoy your music, you also want them to think about it. This is the greatest compliment any artist can get."The interlude seamlessly segues into Bouldin’s rendition of the timeless Oleta Adams tune. The next track “Slave Beat” is “in commemoration to the African slaves that first landed on the beaches of Salvador, Brazil.” “Jazz Music Box” is a dub of the Santana hit, “Black Magic Woman” and the Blackbird’s “Walking In Rhythm.” This track is slick and sizzling. Richard Elliot (born January 16, 1960 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish-born American saxophonist.

Elliot was a member of the funk band Tower of Power, playing tenor sax for five years during the 1980s. He also worked on Stacy Lattisaw's 1986 album Take Me All the Way. His solo career took off when he remade the Percy Sledge classic "When a Man Loves a Woman", which had also been remade by Michael Bolton. Other well-known songs include "In the Groove," "Take Your Time," "Crush," "Chill Factor," "Corner Pocket," and "Sly," as well as remakes of classic pop songs such as "I'm Not in Love" and the Luther Vandross hits "Here and Now" and "Your Secret Love."

Elliot participated with fellow saxophonists Paul Taylor and Gerald Albright, as well as keyboardist Jeff Lorber, in the "Grooving for Grover" concert series. The series honored the legacy of the late Grover Washington, Jr.

Elliot was known for his zebra-striped tenor saxophone. In 2011, he switched from LA SAX Saxes to Dakota Saxophones, which the owner, Peter LaPlaca, sold for Dakota.

In 2005, Elliot joined trumpeter Rick Braun]to co-found their own label, ARTizen Music Group (now known as Artistry Music). Among the first albums on that label is Elliot's own Metro Blue.

Elliot played the Lyricon on several songs on the album Mirage a Trois (1983) by The Yellowjackets.

Silva was born in Sacramento, California. She started her career as a background vocalist for Sly and The Family Stone. She joined P-Funk in 1977. She was the only original Brides of Funkenstein member to continue through the Brides' entire career. In 1978, with Lynn Mabry, she released the successful and acclaimed Funk Or Walk. The Bride's first single release on Atlantic Records, "Disco To Go", sold over five hundred thousand units, and was certified Gold. In 1979, with Sheila Horne & Jeanette McGruder, she released the top single "Never Buy Texas From A Cowboy," voted by Rolling Stone in 2001 as one of the top 50 coolest albums ever released. The Brides were the only group in the P-Funk organization to receive a Rhythm and Blues Award in 1981 for Never Buy Texas From A Cowboy.

Later career[edit]
Silva recorded and toured with The Gap Band in 1982. She signed a solo deal with Polygram Records in 1988, but her debut album was never released.

Her recording and touring credits include but are not limited to; Ice Cube, Boyz n the Hood, Roy Ayers, Snoop Dogg, Coolio, B.B. King, and Parliament Funkadelic. Silva was born in Sacramento, California. She started her career as a background vocalist for Sly and The Family Stone. She joined P-Funk in 1977. She was the only original Brides of Funkenstein member to continue through the Brides' entire career. In 1978, with Lynn Mabry, she released the successful and acclaimed Funk Or Walk. The Bride's first single release on Atlantic Records, "Disco To Go", sold over five hundred thousand units, and was certified Gold. In 1979, with Sheila Horne & Jeanette McGruder, she released the top single "Never Buy Texas From A Cowboy," voted by Rolling Stone in 2001 as one of the top 50 coolest albums ever released. The Brides were the only group in the P-Funk organization to receive a Rhythm and Blues Award in 1981 for Never Buy Texas From A Cowboy.

Later career[edit]
Silva recorded and toured with The Gap Band in 1982. She signed a solo deal with Polygram Records in 1988, but her debut album was never released.

Her recording and touring credits include but are not limited to; Ice Cube, Boyz n the Hood, Roy Ayers, Snoop Dogg, Coolio, B.B. King, and Parliament Funkadelic.
