I've been a huge fan of Sonny Landreth for many years. Just about a year ago, I had the pleasure of seeing him for the first time in a small club and really had the chance to see (as well as hear) him work his Voodoo on slide.

I've been studying and practicing some of his unusual techniques as of late (as well as a few tricks from Marc Athlan and "Don't call me "Stu""). Here's a minor blues, played on my Mexican Tele in open Am tuning. Backing track: Minor 9 Blues by Sullibackingtracks

I've been a huge fan of Sonny Landreth for many years. Just about a year ago, I had the pleasure of seeing him for the first time in a small club and really had the chance to see (as well as hear) him work his Voodoo on slide.

Every once in a while you hear a player that makes you realize there's so much more that can be done with your instrument. I happened to see a you tube video of Marc Athlan and that's just what happened. Marc takes some of the techniques of Sonny Landreth (fretting behind the slide, ghost harmonics, etc.) and adds a whole new bag of tricks on top of that. While I have a long way to go with most of this, let's just say, I'm inspired. Thanks Marc!
