This time he returns to 40HZ Records for their fourth output, an imprint who has slowly been working their way to the top with cut after versatile cut. Working together, Void and 40HZ Records have demonstrated the reason newcomers are taking over the scene at present. With their diligent A&Ring skills and the impeccable production standard demonstrated by Void, they pedestal why drum & bass is so revered at its grassroots level.

‘Switch’ plays out first, with cascading drums and quickly flittering note relays drawing you deep into its composition. With crunching bass and lazer-like synth patterns, Void draws out a range of musicality and proves why he’s become such a resounding figure in recent months. With snipping, robotic vocal sample adding an extra kick with its initial drop, Void creates a driving rhythm which continues from beginning to end. Weighty yet intricate, his ability to muster a versatile musical landscape shines through with every arpeggio.

On the flipside, ‘Why They Want’ adds yet more prowesses to his steadily growing discography. Cracking hi-hats and keyed fluctuations slowly draw you in manifesting an intimidating feel once this is underpinned with the track’s aggressive sub bass. Standing out with its more urgent vibe, ‘Why They Want’ grits its teeth and moves forward with a driving motion, snapping at your aural synapses. You’re never allowed to come up for air, as Void shoots at you with every stab.
