I think you can imagine that speech bubble above my head if you're like me, wondering how can I fit in all these sub-genres that have spawned from House music in the late 80's up until the current year (2023) into a mix, it started out like that but I realised soon enough that I couldn't get across the whole range - Soulful House to Tech House and everything that comes between, into this 1 hour 15 min mix and so it naturally found itself whittling down to some of my favourites I play out when the occasion calls for it and new tracks (for me anyway) I've yet to unleash and some that have lodged in my memories from back in the day when I went clubbing in the late 90s/early 2000s, in particular that Club 69 Feat. Kim Cooper 'Let Me Be Your Underwear (Underground Mix)' brings back the vibe of the sweaty underground box of the Leisure Lounge (that's the thumbnail actually!) or hearing 'Rendez-Vu' played at Space, Ibiza!

“New, Exciting, WOW!!!” (I got that off a car bumper sticker by the way) perfectly sums up how I felt when listening to these unknown bands from the mid-1960s for the first time. ‘Garage Rock’, ‘60’s Punk’ or ‘Garage Punk’, whatever term you wanna use, has got me jumping around in frenzied dances to these fuzzy distorted guitar riffs partnered with bluesy mouth harmonicas, palm slappin’ tambourines, meandering organs, crazed drum patterns & caveman-worthy wails ~ wild just ain’t the right word for this, primeval more like! this really is the holy grail of rock, punk & roll!

Every track on this (with the exception of the already established Dick Dale’s Surf Beat & the odd covers in there) are worthy of number one slots, I love every track on here, seriously, the energy & rebellious raucous sound is just what the more often than not stale music scene these days needs to shake it up a bit. Give it a listen, get to know, request some at my club nights…
