a phenomenon where unrelated but similar actions of individual people seem to look like a coordinated effort. it can be compared to the copycat behavior often seen after serial crimes and terrorist attacks. however, with a stand alone complex, there was never an original act. the details of the event are solely in the minds of the public, similar to hyper-reality. the result is an epidemic of copied behavior with no net effect of purpose. mass hysteria over nothing, with a changing in social structure.
