My Dog Is Electric

'My Dog Is Electric' is another one of my London songs. I scribbled it down in 2005 and recorded it some 12 to 18 months later. In case you couldn’t tell from the title it is an ode to my dog that I greatly missed while away.

To be honest, I wasn't going to release this song. But I recently listened to it for the first time in about 3 years and thought what the hell. I am currently finishing off some new tracks so I thought it might be an enjoyable filler if nothing else.

There isn’t too much to say about this one. It is just some driving, psychedelic Rolling Stones meets T. Rex rock n’ roll. I remember recording it pretty much as an excuse to have some fun. It certainly wasn’t meant to be anything too deep. In retrospect it was one of those tracks that I had to record just to get it out of my head in order to move on.

Although catchy, for me the only real interesting part of this song is the bass solo that kick in around 1:41. Basically I was out of ideas and very spontaneously started scrapping my pick against the strings with some delay (I think it sounds pretty cool). Also, I added some chaotic psychedelic effects to the background that do a good job of adding some space.

As mentioned, there isn’t too much more to really say about this track.
