In this interview he gave, he mentioned “extremely good labels rising lately, namely Rat Life, Uncanny Valley, Bahnsteig23. Also Macadam Mambo and Frigio” : “These labels really catered to my exact needs; bringing a mix of Acid, House, Italo, Electro… Really exactly my taste”. I met Nuno from Kêtu records (@k-etu-records) when I was in Ethiopia. We had both been invited at Kidus place for the live recording of his 716 mix : Blowing In The Horn Of Africa. Damien from Phocéephone (@phoceephone) had already recorded a mix for 716 too : Machreq Mix. I had proposed Nuno to do a mix for 716 straight after I met him in Addis. It took two years and finally, it's a selection of beautiful Sudanese music digged by both Nuno & Damien, Kêtu & Phocéephone. What is their common point? the Sahara and the steppes were a natural meeting point between Nuno who works on West Africa and Damien on the Maghreb. Le Discoboulet (@le_discoboulet ), another "hidden" dj that I found thanks to Albion (@big-muffle) who booked it at his festival Camp Cosmic and thanks to Guillaume des Bois (@guillaumedesbois) who recommended it to me. When I say "hidden", I mean "to me", cause just a quick look at his gig dates is enough to see how much he is booked. He is an authentic records digger, looking for those rare vinyls with tracks you have never heard. He has been strongly influence by Danielle Baldelli's tapes from the 80's. "That was a key moment for me and i started to collect all kind of weird library music and stuff that is kind of danceable".

And it leads to those "slave markets" that appeared suddenly on CNN a few days ago, although many political leaders already knew it for years. Nevertheless the record is an open sea, opened to a wide relecture of some balear-ish ambient, Tyrrhenian-ish should I say

Le mix s'appelle Machreq soit l'Occident, par opposition au Maghreb, il se concentre sur les pays du levant, l'Egypte, le Liban, la Jordanie, etc.

It is not the case with Petardo : I truly love his sound which remains fresh and authentic although it's purely dancefloor.
