This three story building on Curtis Street has become the headquarters of FFR.O.C Radio during the events in Black District. The anti-establishment team has found here a home in the heart of the action to inform everyone around about what is going on in this dark area. Only a few people know they set up their microphones in an abandoned apartment of this commonplace building. Indeed, Police forces are ordered to find them at any cost, so they must remain as discreet as possible if they want to carry on their mission: bring back freedom of thinking and truth in the minds of Red Ocean City.

Thoreau Point is a traffic circle in the south-east of Black District. It is special because of the massive 90 foot high elm that thrones in its center. Nobody actually remembers if the tree was brought here or if the city was built around it but this second option is often the chosen answer when the question comes up. Some people like to see it as a symbol of resistance. Like a stubborn character from an ancient time who said when invaders came: “you’ll have to live with me, like it or not”.
Thoreau Point is where the first anti-Rehabilitation Plan sit-in takes place.
Led by a young activist, former member of the F.F.ROC Radio team, these people came by the hundreds to expose their point of view in a peaceful way, hoping it will be enough to change the mind of the public and of White District in the process.

One of the first consequences after the confirmation of the Rehabilitation Plan was the appearance of a particular symbol, painted on the district’s walls.
30 years earlier, an unfair judgment of a Black District resident triggered a big wave of protest and violence across the neighborhood. Despite the fact that this episode remains a bad memory because of the injuries and deaths it led to, it is also remembered as a proof of the pride and unity of Black District’s people.
An old man living on Lawaetz Avenue even converted the first floor of his house into a little museum dedicated to this. Among old newspaper pages and pamphlets can be found his most prideful pieces: a special jewel on a little stand and a picture of the girl who wore it.
She is on the shoulders of someone, risen fist and looks at the camera in a way that reflects her matchless determination to fight for what she believes in. This picture became a strong symbol, as well as the shape of the jewel the girl wears. Some people say the design of it is a stylized representation of another big symbol: the Black & White Theater.
The oldest movie theater of R.O.C is surely not sparkling today, mostly because of the deterioration of Black District. Despite that, it keeps reminding to everyone that their city was once a great place for culture and cinema, welcoming annually all of the greatest artists for one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. The Theater is one of the monuments of Red Ocean City and Black District’s people cannot be more proud of being the ones who built it 100 years ago.

Alessio Building is an old 8 story construction, shaped as a “V” and built on Di Lello Road, facing the Black & White Theater.
Behind the semi-closed curtains of the apartment 420, a writer watches the comings and goings of protesters on Di Lello Road. He wears the red scarf. On his walls are tacked some pages from revolutionary books and pictures of many revolts all over the world. He obviously owns a copy of the famous symbolic picture that can be found on Lawaetz Avenue.
Between two glances through the window, he writes his new novel on a vintage typewriter. The brave writer likes to heroically (and fictitiously) involve himself into real social events and conflicts, and that is exactly what he does writing about what is happening right now, behind his curtains. Whatever the truth, is looking like a hero enough to be considered as such?

In the same building, behind the door of the apartment 113, a father tries to keep his 17 years old son at home. The tension is rising outside and the young man wants to go defend his district with everyone else. A native from Black District just like his father should support such a great fighting spirit for fair causes instead of keeping him inside. But the man knows well how this kind of thing may end up: he was in the street 30 years ago and he lost a lot.
If the girl in the symbolic picture became so famous, it is not only because of her look. It is mostly because she is one of those who did not see the end of the conflict.
And one sure thing is that this picture will never cross the door of this apartment. The owner doesn’t want it because it is not his favorite picture of her. He has so many more in his memory books.
She could have been the mother of his kids if they hadn't decided to be in the street that day. The day he came back home alone.
He supports the fight of today, but he won’t stand in the front line like he used to do carrying his love on his shoulders. Not again.
His son doesn’t know all this. For him, his father has always been a coward like that guy in the apartment 420 he crosses sometimes in the building. Maybe it is time for the son to know?
No time. The teenager forces his way out, slamming the door behind him.

Nobody actually remembers the original name of this alley but since Black District became a place ruled by the law of the strongest, a lot of people have been kicked out of their own houses by criminals. So they became “the Unluckies”.
One by one, they have found refuge in different alleys across the district, including this one which was the first to be occupied. An old man whose only home have been the street for the past 30 years, welcomed them and watched over them the first years. He is the one who called them “the Unluckies” in the beginning. Sometimes he likes to tell his friends of fortune how the past was, when the district wasn’t that hard to live in, even for him.
