The first half I just beefed up a bit and added a few extra phrases and some bigger beats. Then the 2nd half I glitched it all up into a funky soup! I wanted to maintain the integrity of the original song, all the while adding a couple modern improvements!

The original version of this song I made during a night where I was experiencing very heavy depression; a hopeless bleak despair which comes upon me every so often.

Given my Christian faith it's often a struggle for me to understand why I experience these things, and how to get thru them, as most often no amount of praying seems to relieve "the blackness". Whether it be spiritual attacks, chemical imbalances in my brain, or a combination of the two, this darkness comes and goes. But also I am reminded of the truths I've learned about God, that He has promised to be with me no matter what, even though I don't feel it at times. I am learning that during my darkest times my only hope is in the omnipotent creator of the universe. So I decided to remake the song by adding some contrasting encouragement and hope to it which comes in the form of Gods voice and His promises to us.

Overall this is a lament for our pains, and the silence in which we endure them, -the toil and stress of our daily lives. But as believers in Christ, God is TRULY with us and we are to remember in the dark, the truths we have learned in the light, so my goal with this song was to serve as a reminder of that.

The 2nd time around as I made the changes to the song I felt quite the opposite from the 1st time. I was uplifted and encouraged as I found the right message to contrast the character from the songs woes.

And oh yeah, its still pretty heavy.

I'm really feeling my songs evolve lately and its exciting me! Breaking outside my comfort zone is really working as I'm evolving new ways of doing stuff and piecing my songs together.

This is another original, one I came up with while practicing the piano, so I recorded it into Nanostudio and went about sculpting and molding it. Funny thing is that the timing in which I played the notes originally got messed up when it was translated into Nano but I found I liked it even better that way so I kept it and just wnt from there.

I came up with the title cuz the night I started it I went for one of my usual evening bike rides right when the bats come out, and I see them fluttering about overhead. They are my little friends. ;-)]]>

Also this is the first song I've completed on the app Nanostudio on the iPad. It's not as expansive as the DAW I used to use on my PC but dang is it good for an IPAD DAW. Anyways, enjoy.]]>
