On the middle of the night on the day after the 2016 US election results were ready, I woke up, jetlagged, in a hotel room in California with a distinct feeling of dread and unease. I texted Hans a few words about the concept of "smoke and mirrors" between people and in politics. I promptly fell back to sleep. When I woke up, I had forgotten all about it, but Hans had not -- he had written these beautiful lyrics that fit the track perfectly.
