Neil Rushton - Desert Island Discs, 28th September 2019

I have been putting these events on for two years now and this is probably my favorite selection of Desert Island Discs. Covers all that I love in dance music. Northern Soul, Funk, Soul, a touch of boogie, classic House and early detroit techno.

I have wanted Neil to do this for some time but just not had the guts to ask him, massive thanks to Lee Fisher for making it happen. Neil is a massive Northern Soul nut, he is also responsible for bringing Techno to the UK. His compilaton Techno - The New Dance Sound of Detroit was a game changer for me as a spotted youth (as it was for many) and the follow up Techno 2 - The Next Generation got me well and truely hooked. Neil went on to form Network Records (legendary Midlands label) and the two Bio Rhythm Albums took me to a different level, also who can forget Nexus 21!

Anyway, to get Neil to do this was a delight. He actually passed me his 8 within 12 hours of agreeing to do it! For those that have done Desert Island Discs, its agonising process that takes weeks and weeks with lots of arguing with yourself, so this goes to show his knowledge of music and ability to craft a great, balance selection!

Enough rambling, just hit play. If you don't start to dance you need to have a word with yourself!
