Man In The Hills - Episode 13

Sounds for your autumn edification! This has always been my favourite season...

“But when fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.”
― Stephen King, 'Salem's Lot

It's been an emotional one this year. My soul brother Ferd died late in August, and the musical connection since has been intense. I was recording the Burial rhythm by The Revolutionaries for Man In The Hills when the news came that he had passed. I was watching the streaming of his funeral, during which we had chosen to play Louie Louie by Toots and The Maytals as one of his favourite tunes, when the news of Toots' passing from Covid 19 flashed up on my screen. There's a short selection of Maytals niceness in this set. RIP Frederick Hibbert - what a joyous soul he was.

Enjoy the tunes. As always these are all taken from my vinyl records, and shared here in the hope that you might see fit to seek a few out and buy them your self. Musicians, DJs and performing artistes are having a particularly tough time of it with this pandemic, so send them some love. Buy vinyl! Follow this page on hearthis.at, share the link, tell your friends and I'll try to get the next episode out a bit more quickly. It will be a tribute to Bunny "Striker" Lee, who passed a couple of days ago. Am I starting to feel old? No sir...
