This week it's the turn of Mr Stereotype Radio himself, Nigel Clarke. Nigel has been DJjing for over 20 years and during this time has held long standing residencies at The Underground, Brewery Tap, Legends & The Beach in Luton.

In the late 90's he launched his production career making speed garage tracks on his own Speedfreak Recordings label. However his biggest success came from a bootleg he produced of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, simply called OnePhatBillie which went on to win Judge Jules 'Tried & Tested' Track on his Radio 1 show. The 'OnePhatBillie' name stuck and ended up becoming his DJ name for the next 6 years until 2006. He became a long standing resident DJ for Frisky in Northampton and played at some of the biggest club nights in the UK including gigs for Godskitchen, Magna, Passion in Coalville and Full On in the Isle Of Man.

His biggest break came in 2004 when he became resident DJ for the world famous El Divino nightclub in Ibiza, playing weekly for Defected In The House, Miss Moneypenny's and Hed Kandi to name a few. He has also played at Mambo's, Privilege & Es Paradis on the island. That summer he was flown out to South America to play at the opening party of El Divino in Brazil and has since DJ'ed in USA, Budapest, Belgium, Dusseldorf, Berlin and even China. Over the years he has produced tracks under many different alias' including Dirty Diezel, Miguel Moog, OnePhatBillie, Head Huntaz, Tail Spin, Cornerhouse Productions and many more!

After almost taking 8 years out of the club scene, Nigel is back and is the main man and driving force behind Stereotype Radio which is going from strength to strength. With plenty of exciting projects and gigs lined up this year, 2014 looks set to be a great return. Enjoy the mix.

Our guest this week comes from the Netherlands. D-Reflection aka Dennis Molema discovered the world of creating music at the age of 13. The first two years of creating and playing music felt so good that he continued his search for one particular genre he could dive into.

This week it's the turn of a young 19 year old DJ From Milton Keynes, who's already firmly established himself on the local scene by promoting his own Bootleggin' nights which have become very popular. We are of course talking about Joe Ensall aka Ensall. He's been dj'ing on Vinyl since the age of 12 and started running the Bootleggin' nights in 2012. He then joined up with Liam Jones aka Could Be Anyone in 2013 to run them with him. He's also got the production bug and has already released his first EP out on Afterlight Records with plenty more coming up in the pipeline!

You can catch him as a regular guest DJ at local nights for Deep Inside and Footwork, plus a few bigger clubs including Egg, Pacha and has played the mighty Ministry of Sound twice all before turning 20 years old! Not bad! You can also catch him at this years We Are FSTVL playing alongside Blane Read, one of our previous guest DJ's on May 24th. He has also played in a few other clubs, where his older friends were DJing and were kind enough to let him spin few records. In 1999 he became a resident of a new club in the city centre named Remix with a capacity of about 500 party people. Since then he has played in many other clubs across the whole Czech Republic like Mecca, Radost FX, Roxy (Prague), Fabric (Ostrava), 7th Heaven (Brno) etc. During his career, he has spun records in Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Italy, Croatia, Greece and The UK. He has played alongside DJ names like Warren Clarke, ATFC, Paul Farris, Layo & Bushwacka!, Space DJz and many more. In 2000, he started to discover the world of producing and remixing. Since then he has made remixes for Czech and Slovak artists like Monkey Business, DJ Neo, Maduar or A-Tak! and one for the famous British group Kava Kava. He has done with his friends a few productions under the nicknames Mixtiq and Those Bad Guys plus lots of bootlegs and mashups. Many artists today are quick to jump onto the bandwagon, try to be the next big thing and in doing so, lose all sight as to what they stand for. Kosey represents a distinction within a saturated market, one that cannot be emulated.

The feeling that Kosey gets when he is given the opportunity to perform is indescribable, nothing can match it. The chance to express himself and to build a connection with an audience who also share the same passion for the music he loves, is what he has been dreaming of for a very long time. Stood in a booth overlooking hundreds of people is where Kosey belongs, yet he always feels at one with the crowd. “Seeing and hearing appreciation for something you’ve worked so hard on is an addiction;” an addiction that has helped him to excel in a very short space of time.

Cable nightclub is where his love for electronic music began. He instantly grew attached to the euphoric atmosphere generated by the crowd and the feeling of total awe for the music being played; something that was worlds apart from anything he had experienced before. No more nights at Oceana, his dream of becoming a DJ was born. Artists such as Friction, Alix Perez and Icicle were his icons, producing some of his favourite beats such as ‘Behind Time’, ‘Overtime’ and of course ‘Dreadnaught.’

A massive development in Kosey’s life was moving to Manchester to attend university. He cannot speak highly enough of this great city; a city where music is its heart beat. Time spent partying aided his development; and it was during this time that he discovered REAL House music. After only hearing the commercial side of the genre before, the sound of Deep House was completely unrecognisable. Artists such as Steve Bug, Jesse Perez, Burnski and Subb-an were hugely influential and provided the inspiration for an evolution of style.

Kosey is an utter perfectionist and intricately plans his sets. Every mix and every drop is an attempt to take the crowd on his journey. He places great emphasis on tune selection. A mixture of Garage, Deep and Upbeat House generates his distinctive sound. Although he has only been mixing since the summer of 2012, have no doubt in his ability. A huge passion for his craft has caused him to thrive, creating a unique image in the generic market. In this short time, his hard work allied with his vibrant personality has seen him claim prime slots in the main rooms of clubs such as Sankeys, Gorilla, Sound Control, South and Williamson tunnels as well as becoming quick to secure residencies in both Liverpool and Manchester.

Kosey has just recently started to produce; a step that he hopes will take him closer to his dream. He is extremely excited to put forward his own ideas into creating a sound that is not only true to him, but represents the underground scene that he lives for. He craves the overwhelming satisfaction that must be felt upon seeing appreciation for one of his own creations. He is highly motivated to imprint his persona into an industry that is crying out for individuality. The exclusive feel that he captures in his sets will be mirrored by his music. There’s a lot more to come from this aspiring DJ.

Kosey is an utter perfectionist and intricately plans his sets. Every mix and every drop is an attempt to take the crowd on his journey. He places great emphasis on tune selection. A mixture of Garage, Deep and Upbeat House generates his distinctive sound. Although he has only been mixing since the summer of 2012, have no doubt in his ability. A huge passion for his craft has caused him to thrive, creating a unique image in the generic market. In this short time, his hard work allied with his vibrant personality has seen him claim prime slots in the main rooms of clubs such as Sankeys, Gorilla, Sound Control, South and Williamson tunnels as well as becoming quick to secure residencies in both Liverpool and Manchester.

Kosey has just recently started to produce; a step that he hopes will take him closer to his dream. He is extremely excited to put forward his own ideas into creating a sound that is not only true to him, but represents the underground scene that he lives for. He craves the overwhelming satisfaction that must be felt upon seeing appreciation for one of his own creations. He is highly motivated to imprint his persona into an industry that is crying out for individuality. The exclusive feel that he captures in his sets will be mirrored by his music. There’s a lot more to come from this aspiring DJ.

There is one ingredient that Sean looks for in a record though and that is Soul; which he describes as the single most important factor in any record. He has played in every corner of the UK as well as much of Europe

In 2012 he launched Playedoh Records as an imprint for releasing his own material as well as other producers who have played for the brand.

2015 looks set to be a busy year with a string of booking already confirmed for the first half of the year including dates in Rome, Madrid, Marbella and Ibiza later in the summer.

Mark Pharoah, one of the more diverse DJ’s you’re likely to come across whom over a number of years has entertained a variety of crowds and lovers of house music throughout the UK.

His energetic sets are heavily influenced from the Detroit Black Music movement as well as the Balearic summer of love which has led him to play alongside a number of esteemed DJ's such as Chateau Flight, Tornado Wallace, Mark E, The Revenge, Greg Wilson and the Trojan Sound System to name but a few. Holding down past residencies at Shoreditch’s infamous venue The Horse & Groom and after hour parties at the legendary Cable club.

He’s now a respected resident DJ of the Subplot family who host bi-monthly parties at EGG London along with his weekly live radio show Super Soul Fried Disco on D3EP Radio Network, keep him busy. His emphasis is on providing deep sounds for a deep generation, able to take crowds on long and winding journeys but also not forgetting to make them dance. If you prefer your house deep and melodic but also packs a punch, then you won't go far wrong here.

After working with artists like Shola Ama, KC & JoJo and Kristine Blonde, Jeremy is now set to extend his collaboration portfolio with DJ Noodles and jazz singer Patsy Fuller both working with him on pioneering new tracks.
Jeremy is a DJ who is capable of covering a vast repertoire of styles, blending them into one sound that has become synonymous and identifiable to him as a DJ. Combining a mix of deep house/garage, classic 90’s style house, deep tech and jacking with a bit of old skool 4x4 garage thrown in for good measure, Jeremy’s diversity and sheer panache is second to none.
His cool DJ sets are known for twisting the dance floor into a sexy melange of movement before letting loose into a filthy beat, Jeremy knows what the crowd want, and he knows how to give it to them.
Not just content as a respected spin doctor behind the decks, Jeremy also embodies everything he brings to his live sets into a whirlwind of production where he flawlessly shows off his DJ sound, whilst combining all of his influences into one big melting pot of dance music splendour.
As the years go by, Jeremy goes on to prove himself time and time again as being an industry mainstay, having built up a stellar reputation as a player who knows exactly what he is talking about. Despite his many years on the scene, the best is yet to come from Jeremy.

Opolopo first came to the attention for many as the man behind the genre-crossing house remix of Gregory Porter’s ‘1960 What?’, a tune that finished in the Top Ten of many DJs in 2012. Labeled future jazz by some, it’s only a minor part of the Opolopo story which spans genres like a musical suspension bridge.

Opolopo was born Peter Major in Zirc, Hungary, a short drive away from the beautiful tourist spot Lake Balaton, but spent a large part of his childhood touring around with his keyboardist father, listening to the fusion sounds of Herbie Hancock, Jeff Lorber, Jean-Michel Jarre and Tomita, while finally ending up in his current residence of Sweden. It’s little wonder he’s ended up where he is.

His work, both on remixes and original productions is imbued with a life spent listening to the soul, funk, jazz and fusion of his youth. Yet, while clearly inspired by the past, Opolopo’s work still has enough clank and clamour to suggest its feet are still firmly in the present, whether it’s channeling the sound of a 21st century D-Train, dark, fathoms-deep house or doom-laden dubstep. His reworking of St Germain’s ‘Sure Thing’ suggests someone inheriting Ludovic Navarre own jazz-house crown, while ‘Treat You’ by Omar is underpinned by all sorts of wonkiness while Omar takes care of the topline. His remix and production work has appeared on JVC Japan, Tru Thoughts, Warner Bros, Tokyo Dawn and, of course, Z Records.

Arguably the best way to consume Opolopo is live, where he brings together DJing with an array of gadgetry that suggests an electrified Bob Dylan, switching between playing records, tweaking the vocoder, while still finding time for tasty keyboard flurries in between mixes. You don’t get that with Tiësto.

While Opolopo remixes dart from René & Angela basslines to delicious house music, his album Superconductor, is channeling the ’80s, a decade that has been a constant source of enrichment for the Opolopo sound. Superconductor is firmly built around the song, with many collaborations, among them Keni Burke, Diane Charlemagne, Taka Boom and others. Filleted in between even the tracks seem to a have a stronger purpose than mere fillers. ‘The Run’ sounds like a theme from a long-lost sci-fi programme, while ‘Monolith’ sounds like a tune exhumed from the vaults at Tabu Records. In short, Opolopo is a one man Jam & Lewis.

Opolopo, as you undoubtedly know, is Yoruban for ‘plenty’ and on Superconductor there is a superabundance of sounds, styles and, yes, tunes. Come feast here on Stereotype Radio with the one and only Syuss.

DJ New Spirit is an upcoming DJ, producer, vocalist and voice actor that does a monthly podcast series called New Elements Radio.

New Spirit has been heavily influenced from genres of music from Underground House Music, Garage UK House, Jazz, Funk, Gospel, Rhythm and Blues and Video Game Music.

What sparked his fuel for DJing was the excitement of watching other DJs live such as Carl Cox, Little Louie Vega and shadowing DJs in the Cincinnati area such as Roger Shands Jr.

New Spirit has started his 1st live tenure back in 2010, beginning at the Avenue Lounge in Covington, Kentucky, playing House Music Live and had the opportunity to open for DJ Charles Feelgood at the Still Fresh Massive in May 2014.

New Spirit has since then, reached out to the Underground community world wide in his mixes and continues to pursue his goals.

DJ New Spirit is an upcoming DJ, producer, vocalist and voice actor that does a monthly podcast series called New Elements Radio.

New Spirit has been heavily influenced from genres of music from Underground House Music, Garage UK House, Jazz, Funk, Gospel, Rhythm and Blues and Video Game Music.

What sparked his fuel for DJing was the excitement of watching other DJs live such as Carl Cox, Little Louie Vega and shadowing DJs in the Cincinnati area such as Roger Shands Jr.

Siim Tolsting aka Cooking Godzillas is 26 years old and he's from south-east Estonia. He started DJ-ing in 2011, because he simply didn't hear the tracks which he wanted to hear. So he decided to fill the gap and give his contribution to the scene. He mostly plays in South-Estonia and for the past 2 summers he's been one of the residents in his local hometown beach.

He's been also attending some local festivals, but the main focus at the moment is getting into music production - step by step! His dj sets are usually structured from disco to house as you can hear in this mix as well.

He likes to mix disco with groove-laden, proper house music influenced by oldschool hip-hop. He's inspired by Sidney Charles, Son of Sound, Cassio Kohl, Montel, Golf Glap, Isaac Tichauer, Closed Paradise, 80s Child, Danny J Lewis and many more! Welcome Siim to Stereotype Radio.]]>
