The boys from Abyssal Audio are back with their fourth release to date, a three-track collection from Step-a-Side called. And, as usual, it’s filled to the brim with sub-bass goodness. The title track alone is enough to tear a rave in two right up the middle - head-nod-inducing percussion combined with snarling bass and on-point instrumental work is a lethal combination, and Step-a-Side pulls it off with ease, closing the divide between tribal and industrial. On the flip you’ll find not one, but two meaty bonus tracks, kicking off with ‘The Cult’. Not even a jungle-faring African could arrange skinned drums like this lad, and once again he showcases his skills once again, completing the beat with swaying lows and a heart-stopping stomp to match. The AAA-side sees Step-a-Side switching things up in an ice cool way. ‘Lego’s smart pads and techy-triplets will no doubt have all the heads skanking and wobbling every time it’s dropped.
