Yet, when the word of God located him, it was just one shout of "Lazarus, come forth" and the dead came alive again, and Jesus aagain commanded that he should be untied and let go.

Same way, the man at the pool of Bethesda was a living dead, waited 38 years and had given up because he had no one to help him. Same way the woman with the issue of blood had spent all her money over 12 years and the physicians could not help. Yet when she touched Jesus she was instantly healed.

It does not matter how long you have been wallowing in the grave of life, or in the valley of the shadow of death, of among the very dry bones. I prophecy to your life today that you shall live again.

1. First, life is more than just having flesh and sinews. The fact that you have flesh and muscles does not mean you have fullness of life. Flesh and sinews may include money and great physical success, but its not enough.

2. It’s the breath of God that gives life

Romans 8:11
11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you

3. But Its Your duty to stand on your feet. As soon as they received breath, they came alive but they had to stand on their feet. How do you stand? By using the talents and resources (flesh and sinews) God has given you. Those creatures didn’t just lie down there expecting God to pull them up, they stood. Stand means they made effort. The bible did not say God carried them up, but that they (personal responsibility) stood. But even if you’re unwilling to stand, he can pull you up like he did to the lame man in Acts 3.
4. Standing is so important because its first step to greater things. You can’t walk without standing. You can’t run without standing, not to talk about matching forward. You can become a mighty army, when you stand and fight for what belongs to you, for your mission.
Specifically, its Gods plan for you to be great and not small. God wants to make a big deal out of you.

In Ezekiel 37, God was not just content in giving them life. He made them a mighty army. He can also make you mighty today.]]>

We need to be consistent in faith:
1. When things are not going out to plan.
2. When there is comfort all around you and it looks like you dont need God

If you focus on everything going wrong, and there will always be many, you wont be able to praise or worship or even thank God. But when you set your minds on God above, you will always find a reason to thank him.

Many people are dying today, Yet, the bible says we should rejoice always. Why do you rejoice, how do you find joy in the midst of sorrows.

Job was a man that knew what it is to experience great success followed by great sorrows and loss. He lost everything except his life. Yet he had a different view of life. Saying though he kills me I shall yet trust him.

You cannot be a consistent christain, you cannot pray correctly, or read the word accurately, if you dont develop tenacity. And no one develops tenacity in the place of comfort, it comes with challenges.

Why must you be consistent in Thanksgiving, Praises and Worship. Psalm 107 gives us myriads of reasons to thank God:

1. For His goodness

2. Because he redeemed us from sin and satan

3 because he answered our prayers when we cried to HIm

It urges us to give the sacrifica of thanksgiving (v. 22) and concludes in verse 43 that it is wise people who can praise God.

43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the l ovingkindness of the Lord.

Man troubles of life can be solved in the place of thanksgiving.

When Jesus came to the tomb of Lazarus, it was thanksgivng that he used to breakthorugh.
It was praise that Jesus used to defeat death when it tried to steal Lazarus. He started by saying “Lord, I thank you that you have always heard me”

It was praise he used to multiply 5 loaves of bread for 5000 people, the bible said “

It is not possible to appreciate God

If you focus on everything going wrong, and there will always be many, you wont be able to praise or worship or even thank God. But when you set your minds on God above, you will always find a reason to thank him.

Many people are dying today, Yet, the bible says we should rejoice always. Why do you rejoice, how do you find joy in the midst of sorrows.

Job was a man that knew what it is to experience great success followed by great sorrows and loss. He lost everything except his life. Yet he had a different view of life. Saying though he kills me I shall yet trust him.

You cannot be a consistent christain, you cannot pray correctly, or read the word accurately, if you dont develop tenacity. And no one develops tenacity in the place of comfort, it comes with challenges.

Why must you be consistent in Thanksgiving, Praises and Worship. Psalm 107 gives us myriads of reasons to thank God:

1. For His goodness

2. Because he redeemed us from sin and satan

3 because he answered our prayers when we cried to HIm

It urges us to give the sacrifica of thanksgiving (v. 22) and concludes in verse 43 that it is wise people who can praise God.

43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the l ovingkindness of the Lord.

Man troubles of life can be solved in the place of thanksgiving.

Do not despise the days of little beginning, at the same time, have aspiration to grow.

In the days of famine, Isaac sowed the seeds he had, while others were busy eating theirs to survive the famine. The reality of life is that human needs are insatiable, meaning there is also some famine of needs, but when you invest, and save in knowledge and assets, you are growing what will transform your little beginnings, your seed into an oak.

Whatever you do today dont fold your hands expectign your little beginnings to suddenly grow of its own accord. “The Lord rejoices to see the work begin… start something and God will bless it.

The blessigns of the Lord makes all the difference. When Jesus blessed the 2 fishes and five loaves from the little boy, over 5000 people were fed with 12 baskets left over. God can do that to your little beginning if you dont despise it.

How can you despise the little begining:

3. By not surrendering it to Jesus- meaning you miss an opportunity for your two fish and 5 loaves to feed the five thousand

5. By selling your birthright because you dont know its worth. Esau said, what is the birthright worth to me. The bible says thus Esau despised his birthright. When he came to realise, he wept but it was too late. He settled for the “me too blessings”

She has gone to Shiloh year after year yet without result (v6-7). Until one day she decided it was time she couldn't take it any more. She retreated into the temple where Eli the priest was and poured her soul to God in prayer (v9-13). The priest even accused her of drunkenness(V. 13). But God answered her! Not long after she had a son whom she pledged to God followed by 3 sons and 2 daughters (1 sam 2:21).

In this new series, We discuss obedience.

Obedience is one of the most important and perhaps least emphasised necessities of our christain faith.

When Jesus died for us, apart from his love, it was to obey his father more than anything us. God requires us to be obedient and many of his promises and expectations are tied down to our obedience.

Obedience is a requirement.

Why is obedience so important in our relationship with God?

1. Its a sign of love to Him and love is the whole essence of our relationship. Jesus says if you love me, keep my commandments. In Matt 22: 36-40, He described love as the most important of all the commandments
2. All the blessings in the bible are anchored on obedience.

God wants you to prosper adn have blessings without limit. He says I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. Many of us want these blessings but these blessings are attached to only one requirement- obedience. Deut 28: 1-14. Verse 1 says you get the blessings when you "diligently" obey.

3. Obedience shows to God that you fear him. In Gene 22: 1-12 God gave Abraham the test to sacrifice his only son, and when he was about to God stopped him, but God said he had proved that he feared Him through his obedience.

4. Obedience is a sign of honour to God. God considers disobedience as a sign of dishonour. 1 Samuel 2:30
5. Obedience is a sign of agreement with God. Obedience, means acknowledging Gods instruction and saying yes Lord. That means you agree with him.

Amos 3:3 KJV

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Obedience is your way of saying you agree with God's plans for your blessings and to do it His way.

The story of the rich young ruler illustrates this. Matthew 19:16-22 He was willing to obey all the laws but he did not love God enough to follow Jesus. The bible said he was sorrowful because he had much.

4. 4. How do we grow in obedience through love?

• By seeking a relationship with him deut 6: 4-6
• By constant daily personal communion with him. Not just when you go to church on Sunday.
• By meditation in his words. Joshua 1 says this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth in it shall you meditate day and night.
• By obeying his words because of our love and reverence for him. James 1: 22-25 says we should not become forgetful hearers but does of the word.
* By the holy spirit guidance.

James 1:23-25 Good News Translation (GNT)

23.If you listen to the word, but do not put it into practice you are like people who look in a mirror and see themselves as they are.
24.24 They take a good look at themselves and then go away and at once forget what they look like.
25.25 But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice—you will be blessed by God in what you do.

Its very easy to hear the word of God like James aaid, be excited and go away and return to our old ways. But real power is in continuing in it. GNT makes this clearer- "keep paying attention to it".

We are often excited about a new doctrine, a new preacher in town. A new discovery. What happened to the old foundations of faith, the building blocks that do not change? If you keep diggng the foundations of your house and removing it you wont have a house,

There is a power of consistency:

**1. To be consistent we need to be resolute/importunate. **
Luke 18 tells about the imp;ortunate woman who kept nagging the judge until she got her justice.
We will need this power of consistency when things are not gonig our way. When we have done all and it seems its not working out. the bible says, be consistent " Having done all, stand..."

**2. Consistency produces joy.**
Psalm 126:6 (NKJV)

6 He who continually goes [a]forth weeping,

Shall doubtless come again [c]with rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.

**3. Consistency prevents a person from falling.**

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV)
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Consistency makes no excuses, gives no leeway to sin.
David realised this in Psalm 51: when he says cast me not away from your presence..... give me your steadfast spirit.
In the presence of God there is fulness of joy and gladness forever more. That means outside of the presence of God it is full of sorrow. In fact the bibe says there are many sorrows for a backslider.

But some people will say even church people have troubles and afflictions.That cannot be compared to the sorrows of a backslider. What makes a difference is hope. Christ in us is the hope of glory. There are many troubles for the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
So consistency means whatever the storm of life. The righteous has hope.
Even in hopeless situations, its only the righteous that can say "though I walk thorugh the valey of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil".

**4. Long Term Sustainable Success**:

Greatmess is built on consistency, not on one minute wonders of 5 minutes of fame.

A worker that is consistent will get more done than one that is inconsistent.
What does this mean for me today?-
The need to develop a long term sustainable routine for reaching my God given goals including;
+ routines for prayer/bible study and checking out obedience on daily baisis
+routine for career development
+routeines for finding time for those that I love.
+ consistency in working and praying on areas of my needs and addressing my lapses.]]>

What happens when you're genuinely in love?.I don't mean when you're infatuated and in emotional wreckage... I mean true love.
You become gentle, seeking the other before you take care of yourself. Anyone fell in love before? (You will see it all in 1 Cor 13)

I remember two favourite raggea songs of mine growing up... 'one says "am mad about you... am going crazy for you😄" (Ginger Williams)
The other asks "Where is the love.. that we once knew uh huh... those days are gone, those days of love .... ". (Sonya Spence).

In one moment it was overflowing lust disguised as love. Next moment the "love" had disappeared. That's what happens with canal sensual objectified love.

Hence. the Psalmist realised in Psalm 119 that its Gods love that is eternal and to love God back you must love His word and keep it to the end.
"Indeed I shall observe it with my whole heart... v34... I delight in it.. v34... incline my heart to your word (testimonies) not to money (covetousness).. which is worthless things... 37...He asked for revival of his love

When you're in love you lose a sense of proportion and just want to give and give.
The good thing is you can find true love that won't get you crazy by breaking your heart

TrueLove produces hunger or longings.
"Behold I long for your precepts" v40
He asked for God's mercies v 41 according to his word. 41 and pleaded
"I will speak of your testimonies also before kings and will not be ashamed" v46
"I will delight myself in your commandment which I love"..Again in v. 48....
What have you fallen in love with? ...

Don't let the song
of your love for God and His word end with "where is the Love?"
Rev 3 says I have this against you that you have left your first love".

When you first udnerstand that the person speaking is not just the light, but is also the truth and cannot lie but can see everthing done in darkness, we know that here is a damning verdict on a church that is preoccupied with activities and zealous on doctrne but lacking the basis first thing- loving the Lord as it used to.

How do you know when your love for God has become wane or is dwinding or reducing gradually:

1. When you no more pant for his presence like you used to do… 5
When Gods presence become a chore or a bore..
When you can not get the high and excitement that you get from his presence

David said in Psalm 42:1 says his heart was panting for God but after sin in Psalm 51 he was pleading to just experienc Gods presence again. What is your state?

2. When other things are becoming critical, urgent and important
When your life is bombarded left and centre with emergencies drowning the calm presence of the still small voice.

Saul was crowded by the voice of the people. The threat of war compelled him to make sacrifice when his clear instruction was to wait. When you have left your first love, obedienc becomes difficult and you begin to respond to emergencies in the flesh….

3. When your attention to the object of love is dwindling

4. When you cannot confidently say that God knows you love Him more than things.
2 Timothy 2:19
The New King James Version
19 Nevertheless xthe solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord yknows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of 7Christ depart from iniquity.”

Jesus kept questioning Peter, because he has moved back from what he was called to. So Jesus asked, do you love me more than these “grilled fish”, and Jesus said, feed my lamb, again tend my sheep, and again follow me:

Lamb- needs feeding
Sheed needs tender care,
But Jesus need following.

If you feel your love has waned or become cold or lukewarm, you could follow the advice to the church in Ephesus :

1. Remember where you have falleng from (remember your highest points- that is where you need to get back to as a minimum). What heights were you in faith, holiness, worship before the fall?
2. Repent from whatever sin took you down from that height. Is it pride, or irreverence or the little foxes that spoil the vine. It is not possible to lose your love for God without something having gone wrong.
3. Do the first works (it was work that took you to that previous height- work in prayer, work in commitment, work in bible study, work in righteousness. Jeremiah 29: 13 says " and you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart".

However, in Revelations 3:1, there was something worse than waning love. It was dead love. Are you feeling your relationship with God is dead. Well Jesus had great cures for that too.

4. Be watchful. This means open your eyes. In Luke 21: 34-36 he said watch therefore and pray always....
5. And stregthen the things that remain. And means in additon to above (being watchful). Its not enough to be watchful. You must strengthen those things that remain "that are about to die". That means even in that state of spiritual death, there are still things that appear to be living. These need to be strengthened.
6. Make your works perfect before God. He said "I have not found your work perfect"
7. Hold it fast. Dont let the gthings slip away ever again. To hold fast mean to continue to believe, and live perfect life. Its not something to do once and forget about it. Good news translation translated this to be "obey it"
8. Finally make a move towards God. God never left His place. You were the one who moved away. So just move back. He is waiting to receive you.

Next week we look at how David moved back even after the heinous crime of murder and adultery. There is no one so far gone that God cannot restore.

This prodigal son collected the fathers livelihood based on entitlement mentaility.
He moved far away from the father (God) and wasted the substance, the birthright with strangers.
He left the place of righerouness to begin to eat with pigs (unclean animals)

To return to God what did he do>

1. He came to himself.

Sin is senseless. And only the senseless enjoy living in sin. That is why the bible says that the foolish man has said there is no God, God is not in any of their thoughts.

If God is in your thought, you will think twice before enjoying the pleasures of sin.

2. HE made a move back home, to return to his first love.

3. He acknowledged His sin saying father I have sinned.

4. He offered to do the works. Do the first works=Help Others To Find Their Feet Back (to develop)
Jesus said to Peter, the devil has asked to sieve you like wheat but I have prayed for you… when you return strengthen the brethren. (Luke 22:32)
A way to make your return permanent is to do the first works. The prodigal son offered to do those works even as a servant.
“I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’” (verse 18-19)

Also use your pain to gain souls. When you know how temptation affected you you can empathise with ofhers and help then to find their feet.

David said to God ' I will teach transgressors your ways and sinners shall be converted unto you".
12. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. (otehr version says willing spirit)

And sinners shall be converted to You.

How can you use your pain to bring souls to Christ;

*Through the word
*Through the testimonies(overcame by the blood… and words of their testimony. Its enough to say I was lost but now am found.

Do the first works=Help Others To Find Their Feet Back (to develop) Jesus said to Peter, the devil has asked to sieve you like wheat but I have prayed for you… when you return strengthen the brethren. (Luke 22:32) A way to make your return permanent is to do the first works. The prodigal son offered to do those works even as a servant. “I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’” (verse 18-19) Also use your pain to gain souls. When you know how temptation affected you you can empathise with ofhers and help then to find their feet. Numbers 23; 19 says God is not a man that he should lie, not the son of man that he should repent, has he promised will he not do it.

The bible says to him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or hope for... (Ephesians 3:20). Not only is he able to do, He is able to do exceedingly abundantly. more than....

He does it according t the power that works in us.

Now that simply means he makes us to do it, or makes it possible for us to do it, supported by a power

So God wants us to not only look into the perfect law of liberty but to do it. He is ready to give us the grace to do it.

How can we work with grace in our daily life is the topic of today’s conversation.

In todays, rat race dominated workplaces, many human psychology have been brought in. But nothing replaces character.

This will not be an elaborate study but an application of grace in our work places. How can I bring grace to work so that those who see me can see Jesus in me.

First, Grace helps us to work hard. It is impossible for us to have grace and be lazy. 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV)
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
Grace removes the stress and makes work pleasurable. That is why the work that is torture to one person is easy for another. Grace enables us to work. It gives us passion, resilience, and hope.
This is because the person who receives grace receives a supernatural enablement.
Heb 13:
Grace gives us Tolerance and truth: Grace makes you calm and not fret in the midst of trouble. According to Jesus was full of grace and truth. YOu cannot receive the grace to lie. But grace allows you not to be judgemental and negative. It helps you to forgive others without desiring their evil ways.
John 1:14-18 New King James Version (NKJV)
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Grace cannot allow a man to be corrupt.
Hebrews 12: 28 says

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we [a]may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

Grace gives you a sense of gratitude and not entitlement:
In 1 cor 15:10

Grace Informs our relationship with others:

It takes grace (the greek meaning of charis, decorum in composture, to refuce to throw rubbish back to people when they throw at you, to remain sane when others are losing their head.

Rudyard Kipplin the indian born English journaalist, poet and short story writer who went ahead to win a nobel prize for literature in 1907 once penned these great words of wisdom;



If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

Why/Brief Background to the study.....

When we work in our business or offices, there will be things that will test our patience. Situations that require endurance. This is not different from the encounter we will have in spiritual things. Even in families, we need patience for our family to gel together or to remain together.

There will be temptations and trials. But James says the purpose of our trials is to produce the fruit of patience in our lives.

“ My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces [a]patience.”


Who needs patience you may say in this microwave age, where everyone wants to get rich quickly, where speed is preferred to depth and substance? Its because the plans of God cannot be complete in a hurry!

To grasp patience, we need to understand what patience is not.

Patience is not Sluggishness or lack of drive. You’re not patient because you don't know what to do when someone provokes you, you could fight but patience wisdom tells you to be patient and not fall into a trap. Its not patience when you fail to deliver.
Patience is not stupidity or foolishness. In fact v. 5 says you actually need wisdom to demonstrate patience.
Patience is not the lack of courage to act, it is the courage to refrain from acting in a negative vibe. It is the courage to exercise self control in the face of provocation.
Patience is not weakness but the tenacity to see things through. It took patience



James mentioned three things that patience does for us:

It makes us perfect.

Just imagine, that because a woman has waited 10 years for a child, and then get pregnant. It would have been fair to let her give birth in a month, Is it not? Even Sarah who waited till she was 90 to conceive Isaac had to wait 9 months. The mother of Jesus though bringing out God’s own child had to wait for 9 months. Verse 4 tells us why.

Patience makes us Complete
“4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be [b]perfect and complete, lacking nothing”. Patience produces perfection, and completion.

When a student gets to the university,and passes through 30 even 50 courses to become a graduate, the final product is a complete student. We could have given him all the syllaus and books so he could write the final exams in 3 months. But its precept, upon precept.

But this patience here relates specifically to endurance.

Thirdly, patience removes lack. Because Patience makes us complete, it removes lack. Patience is the key to ensuring that you inherit your promises. Patience is not sluggishness.

In fact, Hebrews 6:12 says
So that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Patience is a fruit of the spirit. It is not the absence of courage. But the Courage to exercise self control. It is wisdom in practice. Many problems would have been contained if only we have exercised patience. Many accidents would not have happened if drivers had been patient. Patience is a demonstration of love. How often are we patient with our own selves when we give excuses for our failings, and even spiritualise it “God understands”. 2 Corinthians 13 says “

Patience is a fruit of the spirit.
Galatians 5:22 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Patience prevents you from the spirit of anger which destroys things. Moses would not have missed the promised land if he exercised a little more patience.

Patience is a hard lesson to learn. It means keeping your sword in the plough instead of cutting off ears like Peter did in John 18: 10-11
10Then Simon Peter drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. 11“Put your sword back in its sheath!” Jesus said to Peter. “Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given Me?”…

One of my favourite adverts of all time is a pirelli advert which says “POwer is nothing without control” It debutted 25 years ago with Carl Lewis the sprint legend. Jesus demonstrated this principle when


Patiece is not complete without wisdom. The connection between the two is interesting. Vers 4 says

And immediately identifies a possible lack and its fix. It takes wisdom to exercise patience. So verse 5 says

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting,

YOu can ask God for the wisdom to be patient today, but you need to ask in faith. And since faith without works is dead, you need to work towards exercising patience in your daily life.]]>

Ther are many books on strategy, and politics that many swear by.

Two of these are the 48 lawss of power by robert Greene, the Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli and the arte of war by the chinese legend Sun Tzu.

These books tell of power and how to acquire and use it such that you can deceive your enemies, befriend and betray at will and land blows to people to keep them in servitude. The 48 laways of power for example is so evil that most prisons in USA banned it. Imagine a book so evil that prisoners not allowed to read!

In the 18th and 19th chaper of the book of 2nd kings, we found Hezekiah had tried every thing in the books on befriending the that is more powerful including gifts and peace offerings. Yet, because the devil is stubborn, sennacherib will not only renege on his own plege, he had no respect for convenants and agreements, and most importantly holds the place of God in total contempt.

Its 2 chapters of details but let me try to summarise quickly.

Hezekiah was a godly king,

Then the King of SAssyria besieged Samaria for 3 years and took it. ..and then came to Judah to take Jerusalem a few years later. Hezekiah pleaded and volunteered topay tribute, which was imposed and paid, but Sennacheribkept coming back with war despite the tributes and even treasures from the house of the Lord and the kings palace.

Finally, he sent his generals to threaten Hezekiah and the poeple, and they came with a mission of propaganda to defeat the heart of the people.

They reminded them how the Gods of otehr nations could not save those nations, and asked that they should nto trust in Hezekiah as the God of Isareal cannot save them too from this powerful king.

The end result was that this blasphemy was disgusting to Hezekiah, he took the letter that was issued on top of the verbal abuses, and laid it before God and also cried out the the prophet.. In chap 19 v 20

20 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel: Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.’ 2 Kings 19:20

In v 32-37 we saw the interesting conclusion.

32 “Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria:
‘He shall not come into this city,
Nor shoot an arrow there,
Nor come before it with shield,

Being contagious and deemed unclean, lepers were required to isolate themselves, accept the label of impruty and shout it wherever they go that they were unclean.

Maybe in your life and career, you are in that situation where the words of men have crushed you to teh extent that you now repeat it to yourelf.

You are in that situation of the lepers...asking if we stay the same we die, if we go we may be saved alive or get killed.. (and our suffering will end)

The lessons in short:

1. God saw strong men and even minister in whose hand the King leaned and the king and the army (mighty and pwoerful nobles) he chose poor leppers to use to save isreal.
2. They steps that used to announce their shame was what God used to bring them glory. Their steps of faith became songs of praise in Gods ears.
3. It was the leap of death to go and surrender to the enemy that produced the fear that drove the enemy away.
4. When the victory happened, the lepers were the first to partake in it. They hid their own loot before announcing to the king... God can bless the leper before blessing the king....
5. It all happened suddenly, they were poor and destitute one day, and that same day they were exceedinglly rich, and influential. they were despised one day, and they became celebriteis that same day. YOUR MIRACLE WILL NOT REQUIRE A MANS APPROVAL OR UNDERSTANDING. The word of God is yes and amen.
6. The lepers were forgiving...they could have said the people that sent us out, let them die of hunger... but the fear of God prevailed upon them. It came as fear of the king, but because it was a prophecy it was God.
7. They took a step of faith- nothing happens until you step out. Now step up and step and and do whatever you need to do, inspite of the derision of man, and the sound of the schahles on the leg...keep walking, keep hoping. You will make it.]]>

1. **All men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God**. The bible says if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Apparently, the scribes and pharisees were all guilty of the same misdemeanour except that they were not caught.
2. **There is hope for you if you can run or be brought to Jesus no matter your past, or present**. the only condition being that you must be willing to do what Jesus told the woman to do "go and sin no more"
3. **Your hope does not rest on the opinions of man or severity of your sin**, but on your acceptance of the offer of pardon from God who says " Go and sin no more"
4. **God is not interested in the death of a sinner no matter how terrible**
These are very important lessons but in this series we want to talk about how I and you can become the light of the world.

In this introduction, we want to understand what it means to be light versus darkness and how you can be that light that Jesus wants you to be.

DAniel was persistent in prayers not knowing that God had already answered his prayers but the angel was being obstructed by the devil. Maybe someone is sitting on your answered prayers, persistence will take you to the point that God will intervene for you.

5. You will be yielded and submitted to him- It was in the place of prayer that Jesus declared, if it is your will let this cup pass over me, but if not

The Question is How can we Develop Consistency in Prayer:

First, you decide what is the priority in your life.

Secondly, Focus on the outcomes that you want

Thirdly, Study the word more. The more you study the word of God, the more you will find encouragement to pray.

Fourth you need faith. Prayers without faith is waste of time.

He was offended that the father was celebrating the return of the prodigal son.
But the father's response was profound. 👉

This son has the best gift ever- and khe didnt evem know it. He had the GIFT of his PRESENCE (fellowship, grace, love) but was looking for His PRESENTS ( Goat, Things to show off to his friends).

What he didn't know was that the Father (God) , already planned for his 7.
In fact, the Father and all servants were busy working for his future.

But he just wanted "a young goat, that I might merry with my friends"
It's up to you whether what you want out of God is His PRESENCE or His PRESENTS.

The life of a man is not consisted in the abundance of things which he has.

This dedicated son was angry with the father "Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; AND YET YOU NEVER GAVE ME A YOUNG GOAT THAT I MIGHT MERRY WITH MY FRIENDS".

He was offended that the father was celebrating the return of the prodigal son.
But the father's response was profound. 👉

This son has the best gift ever- and khe didnt evem know it. He had the GIFT of his PRESENCE (fellowship, grace, love) but was looking for His PRESENTS ( Goat, Things to show off to his friends).

What he didn't know was that the Father (God) , already planned for his 7.
In fact, the Father and all servants were busy working for his future.

But he just wanted "a young goat, that I might merry with my friends"
It's up to you whether what you want out of God is His PRESENCE or His PRESENTS.

We want to talk of God the Restorer. To restore means:

1. to bring back or re-establish (a previous right, practice, or situation). It also mean
2. return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position.

When someone has vied off the tangent, moved away from the Father, restoration is very important. After surgery often people need to be hand held to learn to walk again. So does the father restore the sinner who repents. But its not just restoration to fellowship, but much more.

Here in Luke 15: 20-24 the Father saw the REPENTANT son far away...
He ran towards him with a big "welcome back home" hug.

He was still smelly from the long journey from a far away countrycountrycountrycountry
His feet was full of mud, dirt and dust perhaps even sores and bruises.But he was heading back home.

God is hoping someone will turn back and come home today... a big reception awaits you.

1. He restores your soul. PS 23:3
Psalm 23:3 NKJV:
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

2. He restores the joy of salvation Psalm 51:8,12
Psalm 51:12-14 KJV
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

3. He restores the wasted years (that canker worm had eaten) Joel 2:25.

Joel 2:25-32

25 “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming [a]locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.

4. He restores your wellbeing - physically, spirituality and financially

We want to talk of God the Restorer. To restore means:

Why should we walk in love?

1. Because God is love. 1 John 4:7-11

Its not just that he loves us (v.7). He is love (v.8 and v.16)

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

2. Because God is driven by love- thats why he sent Jesus

John 3:16 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

3. God requires it.

Matthew 22:37 NKJV (also Deut 6:5)
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

4. Love is the only way we are identified as children of God.

Jesus said love God is the greatest commandment and the second greatest is to love your neighbour as yoursel.f

5. Because love is demonstration of righteousness

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.

God wants not just your heart but your soul. God is not looking for robots. He wants people who understand and know that He is God. and retain his knowledge. That involves commiting your soul- the part of you that got saved by faith.

3. To love him with all your mind means not depending on your own understanding according to Provers 3:5.

4. Finally to love him with all your strenght means doing everything possible to please him whetehr its convenient or not. In other words becoming what Paul dscried as a living sacrifice in Romans 12:1. It means remembering your body is the temple of God and you must keep it for him. It means refusing to compromise when temptation comes.

The Unlovables ?
They come in various shapes and sizes. Liars, slanderers, gossips, traitors, the lazy subordinate or mean boss who limits your career for no just reason. But is there any one that is unlovable? Not according to Jesus Christ/ In the main verse for today, he said in Matthew 5 where we picked our main verse for today. (I am reading from verses 38 to 48 to supply the context, our emphasis is verse 44)

In earlier parts, we discussed that Jesus summarised the entire law and prophets into two laws, love God and love your neigbours.
Matthew 22:34-40

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

We discussed earlier that Love matters to God because Because God is love. and He is driven by love hence he sent his only begotten son 1 John 4:7-11 God requires us to love him in return. He actually says in Deut 6:5 (quoted in Matt 22: 37)

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

The question is how do we love such a perfect God whose standards are heavenly, who loves so generously as to send his son to die for sinners?

Deuteronomy 6:5

This verse is saying we must love the Lord in specific ways and each of these can be backed up by how God himself demonstrates love to us. In other words, God wants us to love him just as he loves us.

1. Absolutely
God expects you to love him with all, not with some of your heart, your soul and your strength. God did not keep away part of His only begotten son. He gave us Jesus 100%, if you want to love him in return you love him 100%.

YOu cannot be double minded.
2. Exclusivley

Loving God absolutely also means loving God exclusively. Not sharing your heart with idols.

3. Extravagantly

When you love God abosutely, you hold back nothing. That means loving God will all your heart, soul and mind/strength involves lovign God with intensity even extravagantly. You will love God so much that other people will think you are mad, and wasteful in the use of your love.

In Matt 26:6-13 we see a demonstration of extravagant love with the woman who poured the alabastar jar on jesus.
God appreciates it when you love him extravagantly. Is that saying that you should just spend all your money in church? No, that is not exactly what that means. It means that whatever your mind desires to do for God do it without restrictions.

4. Love Practically/Manifestly

The bible says the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. Its easy to quote this. How do sons of God manifest? Not just by demonstrating the power and anoiting of God but in particular by demonstrating the fruit of the spirit and love of God.

I john 5:2 NKJV
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
John 14:15
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

1 John 2:4
If anyone says, "I know Him," but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Love is so powerful that it never fails. (v.8)

So love the lord with all your heart, with all your sould and with all your mind means love in practical terms. You cannot say you love God and be unloving to men.

5. Consistently: The biggest problem Jesus had with early churches was inconsistency and that inconsistency led to the wiping out of the churches in Asia minor.

YOu can listen back to the series on Consistent christain for more on this. We spent a month discussing how to be a consistent christain. God wants us to love him consistently. Not vicilitating between opinions. Not double minded.

Loving God consistently means you are not moving between hot and cold. YOu are consistently hot for God. This means you are not leaving your first love (Rev 2:4-5) or being neither cold not ot (REv 3:15)

In REvelations 2: 4-5 God puts it clearly to a particular church (Ephesus)

Jesus told the disciples in Luke 9:62 that they needed to be consistent.

Demas failed to love God consistently and he ended up backslidden. (2 Timothy 4:10)


6. In Purity

God said be holy because your God is holy. You cannot love a holy God and bring sin near him. In fact the bible says his eyes cannot behold iniquity. So that means you must love him in purity. We quoted the following verses earlier:

Last week we discussed the ways to love the lord including-
Absolutelym exclusively, extravaganlty, practically by loving other and obeying his word, consistently and in purity.

But there are grades of love. There are momentary love and instrumental love like we find in todays life. Many people are seeking God today not because of heaven but just to fix their problems and grant their wants and needs. Thats not bad except that chasing things can take our eyes away from chasing God.

In John 21: 1-18 Peter had abandoned evangelism to go back to fishing along with 2 other disciples. And God didnt stop them but allowed them to learn what he taught them in John 15:5 that without Jesus they could do nothing. after they had laboured all night and caught nothing jesus showed up asking "children have you any food?" And they had none.

He then instructed them to throw the net to the right side and they caught big fish 153 pieces which was more than the capacity of their boat/net, yet their net did not break and their boat did not sink.

But the best part of the story is that when they returned to the shore, Jesus already had breakfast ready for them all along. So their efforts worrying about what to eat in the morning was in vain. They did not have to eat any of the new catch.

Here are 5 lessons I can share from this passage briefly:

1, Necessities are important to you and to God. But necessities should not take the place of God
Matthew 6:27-30

27 Which of you by worrying can add one [a]cubit to his [b]stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [c]arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

2. God knows where the thing that you are looking for is- even the ones hiding in the sea or close to the ground hiding under the waters. A revelation and instruction from God can turn fruitless effort to fruitfulness. John 21: 4-6

6 And He said to them, (H)“Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

3. God already made provisions for you- but if youre not close, you will keep chasing shadows.

11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. 12 Jesus said to them, (J)“Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.

4. Whatever you love more than God becomes an idol or distraction, and unless you reset your love and focus, you cannot please him. Hence he is asking you and me “loveth me more than these?”
it is interesting that it was Jesus opened the eyes of peter and instructed him on where to catch the fish, and that Jesus already made breakfast for tehm while they were still struggling it out to no avail.

God is ready to give you a miracle and provisions. The qustion is whether you love God more than his provisions

One of the ways we demonstrate our fear of God and our faith and trust in him is through obedience. The person that puts their trust in God will be wiling and eager to be instructed by him and to obey. Hence the psalmist said, “trust in the Lord with all your heart, in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path”. What will be the point of direction if you are not willing to walk in it.
Many of the promises of God, in fact can I possibly say all the promises of God, are attached to obedience.

To walk with God we must walk in obedience.

Why is obedience important:


1. Its the key to God’s blessings. Deut 28: 1-14
2. Its the key to God;s heart.
3. It is the key to making heaven.
4. Its the key to greater walk with God- the more you obey, the closer he draws to you.

12 The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.



2. Its the key to God;s heart.

God chose DAvid because God saw in him a heart of obedience compared to stubbornness of Saul which was equated to witchcraft.

The reason God revealed to Abraham that he was going to destroy sodom and gomorrha was because Abraham obeyed God and God was convinced he was going to teach his children to obey him as well.

If you obey God the devil cannot snatch you from God. IN fact the bible says that those who disobey God have an evil spirit to ensure they are sons of wrath.

4. Its the key to greater walk with God- the more you obey, the closer he draws to you.

I will not stand here and pretend that obedience is easy. Its not! I have had moments of struggle. But what I have discovered in my little walk with God is if I can be sure of who is talking, I have trust to obey. That is why my biggest prayer is to know the voice of God distinctly, so I wont need to have presumption.
It was not easy for Abraham. God told him in Genesis 22: 2 to go and sacrifice his only son whom he loved.

Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
Yet he went, intent on obeying God. Sometimes as you go about trying to obey God he comes and provides even the sacrifice for you. Has he asked you to obey and its been difficult. Once you make up your mind, you will see the hand of God. I can testify. Its easy to sing Abrahams blessings are mine, but they are not until you are ready to obey like Abraham did.
Obedience was not easy for Jesus the bible say he learnt obedience through the things he suffered.
Hebrews 5:8-9

8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

I pray that as you startright with Jesus today inobedience, the Almighty God will fulfill all his purpose in your life.

One of the ways we demonstrate our fear of God and our faith and trust in him is through obedience. The person that puts their trust in God will be wiling and eager to be instructed by him and to obey. Hence the psalmist said, “trust in the Lord with all your heart, in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path”. What will be the point of direction if you are not willing to walk in it.
Many of the promises of God, in fact can I possibly say all the promises of God, are attached to obedience.

To walk with God we must walk in obedience.

Why is obedience important:


1. Its the key to God’s blessings. Deut 28: 1-14
2. Its the key to God;s heart.
3. It is the key to making heaven.
4. Its the key to greater walk with God- the more you obey, the closer he draws to you.






1. Its the key to God’s blessings.

Deuteronomy 28
New King James Version
28 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:


12 The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.



2. Its the key to God;s heart.

God chose DAvid because God saw in him a heart of obedience compared to stubbornness of Saul which was equated to witchcraft.

Acts 13:22

22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

The reason God revealed to Abraham that he was going to destroy sodom and gomorrha was because Abraham obeyed God and God was convinced he was going to teach his children to obey him as well.
Genesis 18:19

19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”







3. It is the key to making heaven.

John 10:27-30

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”

If you obey God the devil cannot snatch you from God. IN fact the bible says that those who disobey God have an evil spirit to ensure they are sons of wrath.

From the above we notice that an idol is :
1. What you make for yourself
2. What you bow yourself to in the place of God
3. What you love instead of or more than God.

The dangers of idolatory:
1. It takes your heart away from God

4. It alienates your source of help and renders you a victim.

Will You walk with God?
Welcome to StartRight with Jesus and to the new year. It is my prayer that this year will be a better year than any other you have ever experienced in your life.

One of the ways you can be better than ever is by walking with God. This month, we will talk about walking with God. God wants us to walk with him.

In Genesis 5:24
The bible says “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him” (NKJV) Amplified version says “And [in reverent fear and obedience] Enoch walked with God; and he was not [found among men], because God took him [away to be home with Him].

Noah was also said to have walked with God. (Gen 6:9) “This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.” (NLT)

Finally, God himself invited Abraham to come and walk with him in Gen 17:1-6.

Before you walk with God

However, before we can walk with God, we need to understand his language, because he will need to give us guidance and instructions, and benefits.

But “Amos 3:3 says:
3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
That is why God is asking you today to come just as you are and come to an agreement and covenant with him.
The same God that told Abraham to walk before him and be perfect rounded it up by saying, “I will make my covenant between me and you and will multiply you exceedingly”.
This means:

1. Walking with God is a walk in covenant.
2. Walking with God will never reduce you. It will promote you.
When God said to Abraham to walk before him, he promised that he will make him exceedingly fruitful and multiply him exceedingly.
Do you want to experience multiplication and fruitfulness for the rest of your life? Then come and walk with God.

3. It is never too late. God came to Abraham to walk with him at 99 years old. If God could ask a 99 years old to walk with him, you can still walk with him and get the benefits of his covenant for you and your generations to come.
But how do we walk with God?
This will involve:
• walking in faith,
• walking in trust,
• walking in obedience and
• walking away from idols.

In today's episode, we ask, what are the benefits of following Jesus, unfortunately, we can’t really do justice to this in 5 minutes. In summary, Jesus said 1. You will make heaven (2. You will reign with him and be part of those who will judge the tribes of Israel 3. You will have a hundredfold of whatever you have left to follow him ON EARTH and in the world to come ETERNAL LIFE. 4. There is a possibility of promotion so that the first may become last and last may become first . heaven.
