No Requests Podcast 140 - Spence Chicago

I'm just a guy doing what I can to promote underground house sounds. Founder/Resident at Undergroundhouse.tv. Resident on Grant Nelson's D3EP Radio Network (www.d3ep.com). I spent my formative house years during the 90s at Chicago’s Shelter, Smart Bar, Red Dog and many other clubs. At the same time I was also playing guitar in a few locally popular underground rock bands as well as co-owned an underground record label (Urban Legends Records), so being a DJ wasn’t on my mind. Around 1998 I began transitioning completely from the rock scene to the underground house scene. Soon after that I decided that if I learned how I could probably DJ just as well as many of the local DJs I was hearing at the clubs. When a local DJ graciously offered to give me lessons I jumped at his offer.... and I quickly realized it was going to take a lot of hard work to become good at it. Spinning underground styles of house music has been my passion ever since.
