After countless hours spent chopping up vinyl, laying down basslines, tweaking synthesizers and banging on drum pads I'm proud to present "I'm Gone". This album aims to bring back the soulful sounds of the past while maintaining a bass-heavy modern feel. I'm especially happy with two tracks on the album which feature my friend Willdabeast (of Snug Harbour and Michal Menert Big Band). Will laid down some soulful horns, flute and a few other instruments to take my sample-based beats to the next level. The final track on the LP is a killer remix by my dudes Spark arrester and Bluhax. Released by Philos Records, you can grab the album for 'name your price'. Thanks for the support!
"Soften The Blow" features a 'modest' sampling of a rather well known Washington-based folk/rock band building upon a few chunks of banjo and vocals. Gnonnas Pedro's "Yiri Yiri Boum" was released on his "El Cochechivo" album in France in 1981 on Ledoux Records. For many years, I have loved the rhythms of West Africa and I am always exploring new sounds from this part of the world. I recently stumbled across the music of Gnonnas Pedro from Benin and have been on a mission to scoop up as many of his releases as possible. I highly recommend checking out his solo work as well as music by Africando, Orchestre Poly-rythmo de Cotonou, and Pedro y Sus Panchos.
"Can't Get Away" was recorded in 1973, but was not released until an Australian record label, Blue Goose Music, bought the rights to his recordings and released a compilation of his best work in 1977 titled "At His Best". "Theme of the Sun" is a result of many hours of listening to the inspirational music of Rodriguez and the desire to bring (sun) light to his work on an open-minded modern dancefloor.
