See, I like Nik Kershaw a lot. I think he was, and still is, an incredibly good songwriter. Ok, perhaps some of his stuff has dated in the way that a lot of early-to-mid 1980s stuff has, but that's more to do with image (or perceived image) and the sounds/production used. Blame whoever invented the DX7. And 'The Riddle' got a bit annoying after a while perhaps. But no matter... isn't the '80s back in fashion now anyway? Or are we onto the '90s now? I can't keep up anymore.

Dancing Girls was the opening track on his first album, and I believe the first completed track from the sessions. It's very unlike the rest of the material, out and out electronic dance music, with analogue synths and Roland drum machines to the fore. Problem is, it's quite short in original form, and the 12" remixes were pretty dreadful, which was kinda par for the course with extended workouts of the period.

So, back in 2009 I took the 3 minute LP version, chopped it up into little bits and reconstructed it in the way I felt it should have been done in the first place. I know that a couple of well known and respected DJs 'dropped it' into sets at the time, so it can't be too bad. Maybe I put too much of the vocal in for 'the dancefloor', but it's too late now, and I like the vocals. Anyway, here it is, should you care...
