His first instrument was the piano, but at the age of 13 he switched to guitar,[1] taking lessons from British jazz guitarist Peter Budd. Despite Budd's best efforts, Hall adopted a playing technique similar to Wes Montgomery, whereby the thumb is used as a pick. Hall can play fast and explosively, as in the opening number "One Phone Call/Street Scenes" on the ESP 2 DVD A Tribute to Miles.

Hall met Miles's nephew (and future drummer) Vince Wilburn Jr in kindergarten and the two became lifelong friends. Wilburn's mother Dorothy, was Miles's sister. The two friends started playing together and at the age of 16 joined a local band called Time, Space and Distance.

That soon gained them a reputation around Chicago and they did session work for local groups, including the Dells. When Hall and Wilburn were around 17 years old, Pete Cosey, who had played in Miles's band from 1973 to 1975, began giving them lessons. They did gigs with him, festivals, and other events. Pete played bass and Randy played guitar. In 1975, Hall went to study music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. When Hall returned to Chicago, he joined a new band called Data, which included Wilburn, bassist Richard Patterson, keyboardist Robert Irving III, and saxophonist Glenn Burris. All of these musicians later worked with Miles Davis, with Patterson becoming the last bassist in a Miles Davis band and the others working on Davis' comeback album The Man with the Horn. Irving and Wilburn also joined Davis' band in the 1980s.[2]

Hall, Irving and Wilburn performed with other local musicians, including bassist Darryl Jones (who joined Miles's band in 1983) and guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly, who played on the Amandla album. In 1979, Data disbanded and a new band was formed, AL7, which included Hall, Wilburn, Irving, Burris, bassist Felton Crews (who also joined Miles's band) and Hall's sister Saundra, a vocalist.[2]

AL7 performed part-time, their main preoccupation being rehearsing and writing material. They also worked with arranger Tom Washington (known as Tom Tom 84), who was connected with another local band, Earth, Wind & Fire. Tom Tom 84 recorded several demos with AL7, including a track called "Space," which had been written by Robert Irving III.[2]

Collaboration with Miles Davis
Miles Davis's record label, Columbia Records, flew four of the AL7 band members - Hall, Wilburn, Crews, and Irving - from Chicago to New York City, booked them iton a top-flight hotel and arranged recording sessions. Glenn Burris later joined the four and although he was at many of the sessions, he did not play. Instead, the four Chicago musicians were joined by a young saxophonist Bill Evans, who had been recommended to Miles by ex-band member Dave Liebman.[3]

The musicians worked on the music at Miles's house most days and in the studio and recorded more than a dozen tracks, although Davis did not play on any of them at that stage. One of them was "Shout," a disco-funk track written by Hall, Irving, and Burris.[1] Another was "The Man with the Horn," a tribute ballad to Miles written by Hall and Irving, which became the title track for Davis's comeback album. Randy Hall also played guitar, synthesiser and celeste on the track.[3]

The release of The Man with the Horn gave Hall a lot of exposure and as a result of his singing on the title track, he was invited to join the soul/funk band Pleasure.[1] Occasionally, Hall was asked by Miles Davis to compose some songs.[3]

Post-Miles Davis
After leaving Pleasure, Hall carved out a successful career as an artist/producer and in 1984, he released a solo album, I Belong to You, produced by Ray Parker, Jr. (of Raydio and "Ghostbusters" fame).[1] The album included contributions from Irving, Wilburn, Crews and Burris. In 1985, Hall was in Ray Parker Jr's studio (Ameraycan) in Los Angeles, recording a follow-up solo album, Love You Like A Stranger.[1] Once again, Crews and Irving were involved in the sessions. Meanwhile, Miles had left Columbia Records after almost thirty years and signed with Warner Bros. Records, with Warner's head of jazz Tommy LiPuma given the responsibility of handling Miles's musical development. During the initial stages, LiPuma was happy for Miles to choose his own musical direction. Miles decided that he wanted Hall to produce his first album for Warner Bros.[2]

Hall decided to work with a number of people from the Love You Like A Stranger sessions on the new Miles Davis album. One of these people was Atalla Zane Giles, who had played guitar, keyboards, bass and sang on the album. Giles was asked to compose, arrange and produce the new album with Hall. Engineer Reggie Dozier was asked to join the project, as were keyboardist Adam Holzman (who later joined Davis's band), bassist Cornelius Mims, percussionist Steve Reid, Burris and Wilburn. More than a dozen tunes were recorded during the sessions, which took place between October 1985 and January 1986, and the plan was to release an album called Rubberband. One of the tracks was called "Give It Up," the same name as a hit tune for Pleasure.[2] The Rubberband material was not released until 2019.

Davis later worked work with Marcus Miller to record Tutu. Davis's performances from a couple of the Rubberband sessions were used to create new tracks on the Doo-Bop album. Two tunes from the Rubberband sessions were due to appear on a retrospective set called The Last Word, but were ultimately not included.[2]

In more recent years Hall has been working with Elliott Small. Hall produced, wrote the music, and played piano and guitar on Small's album This Season's Collection. Hall also wrote the lyrics for two songs on the album: "Share Your Love" and "Delightful".

The release of The Man with the Horn gave Hall a lot of exposure and as a result of his singing on the title track, he was invited to join the soul/funk band Pleasure.[1] Occasionally, Hall was asked by Miles Davis to compose some songs.[3]

Post-Miles Davis
After leaving Pleasure, Hall carved out a successful career as an artist/producer and in 1984, he released a solo album, I Belong to You, produced by Ray Parker, Jr. (of Raydio and "Ghostbusters" fame).[1] The album included contributions from Irving, Wilburn, Crews and Burris. In 1985, Hall was in Ray Parker Jr's studio (Ameraycan) in Los Angeles, recording a follow-up solo album, Love You Like A Stranger.[1] Once again, Crews and Irving were involved in the sessions. Meanwhile, Miles had left Columbia Records after almost thirty years and signed with Warner Bros. Records, with Warner's head of jazz Tommy LiPuma given the responsibility of handling Miles's musical development. During the initial stages, LiPuma was happy for Miles to choose his own musical direction. Miles decided that he wanted Hall to produce his first album for Warner Bros.[2]

Hall decided to work with a number of people from the Love You Like A Stranger sessions on the new Miles Davis album. One of these people was Atalla Zane Giles, who had played guitar, keyboards, bass and sang on the album. Giles was asked to compose, arrange and produce the new album with Hall. Engineer Reggie Dozier was asked to join the project, as were keyboardist Adam Holzman (who later joined Davis's band), bassist Cornelius Mims, percussionist Steve Reid, Burris and Wilburn. More than a dozen tunes were recorded during the sessions, which took place between October 1985 and January 1986, and the plan was to release an album called Rubberband. One of the tracks was called "Give It Up," the same name as a hit tune for Pleasure.[2] The Rubberband material was not released until 2019.

Davis later worked work with Marcus Miller to record Tutu. Davis's performances from a couple of the Rubberband sessions were used to create new tracks on the Doo-Bop album. Two tunes from the Rubberband sessions were due to appear on a retrospective set called The Last Word, but were ultimately not included.[2]

In more recent years Hall has been working with Elliott Small. Hall produced, wrote the music, and played piano and guitar on Small's album This Season's Collection. Hall also wrote the lyrics for two songs on the album: "Share Your Love" and "Delightful".

At Howard University Ashley studied jazz voice under legendary jazz drummer and vocalist Grady Tate and the late Webster Lewis. Ashley also joined the Howard University Gospel Choir, which has produced R&B artist Angela Winbush, Tawatha Agee of Mtume, Pure Soul, and Gospel great Richard Smallwood. During his tenure with the Howard Gospel Choir, Ashley has performed behind Edwin and Walter.

Professionally he has sung background for Lady Alma and Jean Carn as well as shared the stage with Vivian Green, Bilal, Marcus Johnson and Grammy Award Winners Take 6. In the studio he has recorded vocals for Chavous, Sarah’s Girl, Geneva Renee, Tye Tribbett, Jim Stephens, and Will Downing.

In 2016, Ashley has released his debut single “Words.” Ashley went back to his roots with the recording process of this song. “The song was written and composed by Alysha Ashley and I. She is from Kentucky and while composing this song I wanted to enhance the song with more lush arrangement and vocals, which is what you don’t here in the music of today. With an ensemble of the best musicians and vocalists from the Philly area, we recorded the song in the Lab studios with engineer Craig White (formerly of Philadelphia International Records). We also had some additional production assistance from Will Downing which was an honor” Though the song is about being in love it is more about the interaction of a couple in the heat of a discussion. It encourages the listener to watch your “Words” and if you don’t have an answer in that moment then it is ok to table it for another time.

In other musical attributes Ashley is currently Vice President of The Recording Academy Philadelphia Chapter. Ashley is the Founder of The Soulful Sounds Series that is an R&B Educational Program. After spending two years on the road with “Loose Women” star Jane McDonald, Beth fronted the house band on Sky One’s celebrity panel show “Bring The Noise”, where she performed alongside Melanie C, Tinie Tempah, Anne Marie and Nicole Scherzinger. A brief stint with the Manchester Camerata orchestra on their “Motown & Northern Soul” tour followed before Beth headed back to her native Newcastle Upon Tyne to focus on her own music.

After spending two years on the road with “Loose Women” star Jane McDonald, Beth fronted the house band on Sky One’s celebrity panel show “Bring The Noise”, where she performed alongside Melanie C, Tinie Tempah, Anne Marie and Nicole Scherzinger. A brief stint with the Manchester Camerata orchestra on their “Motown & Northern Soul” tour followed before Beth headed back to her native Newcastle Upon Tyne to focus on her own music.

With a love of Soul and Motown always at the forefront of her sound, Beth fuses her old school roots with the contemporary flavours of R&B, Dance and Pop to create a diverse sonic palette of sounds from every decade.

“I Promise (That I Got You)”, the lead single from her 2020 EP “I Am Everything”, broke into the US Official Soul Chart top 20 with Beth winning the US Soul Radio “President’s Choice Award” as voted by thousands of listeners.

The EP also featured the single “I Am”, mixed by long-time Andrew Lloyd Webber producer, Nigel Wright and the song lead a successful charity campaign for a North East mental health charity with the help of a star studded music video which also included home-made submissions from Beth’s fans.

Laneshia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey has many facets. I am a Human Resources and Recruiting and Staffing Professional, and I am also a Singer and Co-leader in a band. (Kingdom Vibes).

I was born into a musical family, and I also married over into a musical family. I like to put it like this…. during the day, I love inspiring my peers in corporate America to be the best they were created to be and at night or on the weekends, I love singing with our band and interacting with folks who enjoy having a good time with music.

My music roots stem from my dad (Chuck Smith) who is a Jazz Bassist here in the D/FW area. He taught me a lot about music. I have spent most of my life at live concerts and events… I am very passionate about music! I was also very blessed to marry a wonderful man who just happens to be an amazing percussionist and recording engineer. As far as my career, I have a real love for people and seeing them thrive on their journeys.

The best way to accomplish my career goals, in my view, was to get my degrees in Business and Human Resource Management so that I could access the people I wanted to impact the most.

Over the years, I have found myself constantly encouraging and empowering people to take bold leaps in their careers so… I authored a book and created a career consulting company. As a singer, which is life-giving to me, I love expressing myself through music while connecting to audiences that I can relate with. Our band does everything from worship music to cover tunes that inspires the listener. We are planning to do some recording very soon.

Her project band ‘Menoosha & Friends’ is a formation of high quality international musicians and can be booked for all occasions (corporate events, galas, weddings and other private parties). Growing up in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), she was introduced by her parents and her singing aunt Bebe Manga to ‘les Oiseaux du Monde’, a local children’s choir and dance group led by Jean-Claude Gigot that achieved national fame through TV shows and tours throughout Africa. They opened for Stevie Wonder and Kool & the Gang in 1988 at a N’Daya International, a benefit gala in Abidjan (Ivory Coast). This laid her musical foundation.

She moved to Germany as a young adult to study Communication Design and grabbed this chance to build a career as a soloist. She started off working with dynamic bands in Germany and France, touring internationally.

She completed an international tour with Housepacific records throughout Europe and Asia while releasing a single with swiss DJ Christian Hornbostel ‘Do it again’ in 2008. Her solo projects include also include:
– ‘Givin it up’, a single released on the Best of Mercedes Benz Mixed Tapes in 2007.
– ‘Movin as One’, the official single for the Skoda Superb automobile in 2008.
– ‘Three Piece Suite’, a Rock & Soul EP also released in 2008.
– ‘Satellite Brown Chick’, First album released in 2010 and January 2017.
– ‘Ekong Eyeseh (Our Love)’, an Afro-Soul single released in September 2017.

In 2019, Menoosha launched the production of her second album, ‘Airs About Hair’, a concept album about Hair, Love and Life. What sparked the inspiration for such an album? Hair loss due to personal tragedies and treatment differences in the professional world based on how she chose to wear her hair. The project is an collection of hair stories, statements and declarations from a personal perspective. Airs About Hair, Vol. 1 is due to be released on November 27th on Bandcamp and December 9th on all platforms.

Alongside everyone who is anyone in Portland’s multi genre music scene, Mz. Etta has been a staple. From Linda Hornbuckle to LaRhonda Steele, Ken DeRouchie, Tony Ozier, and Norman Sylvester, Arietta has shared the stage with the elite and on her own merit. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone affiliated with jazz, soul, funk or R&B that doesn’t know who she is. Yet only now is she on the cusp of releasing her debut solo album, a body of carefully crafted musical masterpieces.

When asked why now in regards to releasing her work, Ward says “Carrying on my Mother’s legacy is a huge motivation”. She also acknowledges that her mother did a lot of the work so that she and her sister, Nafisaria Scroggins-Thomas, who is also an established vocalist, don’t have too. Subsequently, Mz. Etta is able to successfully navigate an often male dominated and difficult industry – and she does so with a following of respect. “I got grandfather into it [the music scene]. It’s a blessing because I can get into rooms that it takes years for others to access.” For example, Mz. Etta’s third solo show was at the renowned Jimmy Mak’s - - a venue typically reserved for music royalty, not still blooming solo artist who haven’t yet released an album. And as if being booked for a show at the venue wasn’t impressive and powerful enough, Arietta’s show was sold out. That is the power of Etta’s world.

About Etta
Even though most would assume that singing is what she’s always done, Arietta acknowledges that her mother never pressured her or her sister to sing. “We grew up with music, it was always a part of our lives but Mom didn’t push us into the industry. She gave us freedom and choice to be whoever we wanted to be.” A glimpse into the powerhouse that she’d become came by way of a stage appearance in the “Red Beans and Rice” play. “Even close friends were shocked; they didn’t know I could sing like that.”

While others were shocked at her vocal prowess, Mz. Etta was dealing with her own type of shock. “I had really bad stage fright.” However, as an original member of the famed Doo Doo Funk All Stars, Arietta eventually grew more comfortable in the spotlight and her talents quite easily manifested into greatness. Arietta worked closely with the late Obo Addy and she credits him, amongst others, for helping her “work outside the box”. Addy’s friendship and mentorship was a blessing, even leading to her learning different Ghanaian dialects. Ms. Ward is featured on Obo’s last recording, which was released in September 2015. Arietta has also shared the stage with many local turned national and international stars including Liv Warfield and Esperanza Spalding, Thara Memory, Jarrod Lawson, Curtis

Salgado, Lloyd Jones, Farnell Newton and far too many more to name.

By trade, Arietta is a licensed cosmetologist and spends her days as an educator in the field. It’s not really a secondary career but instead, a compliment and conjunction of her life as an artist. “Singers and Stylist actually have a lot of commonality” she says, flashing her warm smile that reminds you of a woman filled with wisdom well beyond her years. “In both fields, you have to create. “ The steady income from the cosmetology career gave Arietta the stability she needed to raise her now 22 year old son. “Music money comes and goes but in Portland, you can make it – you can definitely make it.”

As she plans to release her first solo album in Spring 2018, Arietta seems destined to be among those who will not only make it, but make it big. The album will not only stand as a testament to Ms. Etta’s unrivaled vocals, but it will also serve as a tangible contribution to the continuation of a legacy. “I am indeed, my Mother’s child. All the music, all the songs, these are my stories. They’re stories that need to be told, and I am here to tell them.”

While many labels of style exist, Arietta doesn’t define herself by any particular genre. Some would call her neo soul, others jazz, and still others R&B. But Mz. Etta is more focused on content and the responsibility that she believes every artist has. “Be mindful of how you deliver. Be mindful of your intent while delivering your messages. When you open your mouth – always hold that intent in the highest positive vibration possible. Artist are healers, music has healing power. Music is sacred.”

A harbinger of present-day soul music heard throughout the nation’s capital, the Maryland songstress listened to cassettes of all the greats at her parent’s home in Silver Spring, MD. Voices from the likes of Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Chaka Khan, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Barry White and many more took root in the young songstress and tuned her ear to a new groove. The sound of music became real to her when she took the leap to join the Pilgrim Baptist Church Youth Choir at the age of fifteen and then shortly after, the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School Concert and Gospel/Show choirs. It was when she was selected to sing the national anthem for her high school graduation ceremony that her family truly recognized the talent that had been hidden by this shy creative. Joining the choirs opened the door for her to experiment with her range; known for her four-octave climb, her gentle-jazzy approach can quickly go from soft and singular to deep and encompassed which puts her in the top requested of her class not only for background vocals but as an opener for classic and contemporary acts. Karen has also been called upon quite frequently to perform the National Anthem at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts as well as the Verizon Center for both of the districts NBA teams: the Washington Wizards and the Washington Mystic (WNBA). Meeting the call for excellence, Karen took the breath of the audience during a 2013 Inauguration Celebration performance honoring President Barack Obama.

T.R.E. was managed by the famous "Dick Scott Entertainment" company that also at the same time managed The New kids on the Block, Marky Mark, Doug.E.Fresh, Brenda K Starr, Tiffany, Rick West, Snap and many others. Stone has worked in the studio with the likes of E-40, Kurupt, Badazz, 702, Rome, Silk.E.Fyne & D-Shot to name a few.
In 1997 he signed a staff writer/production deal with the platinum Grammy award winning production company Grand Jury Entertainment/Warner Bros. This deal allowed him to work closely with the music industry's elite & produce remixes on Britney Spears, Brandy, Cee-Lo, Jordan Knight, Teddy Riley of BlackStreet, Janet Jackson, Ginger Spice, Bryan Adams, Mia
& Debora Cox.
Stone has also worked in the studio on projects with artists and producers that have paved the way for the artists of today such as Grammy award-winning producer Jerry Marcellino who produced the song "Ben" for Micheal Jackson on his 1973 million selling album "Ben".
Stone was requested by Jerry Marcellino to produce a remix in 2002 for one of his girl groups called Fantasy.

Equal parts Verdine White, James Jamerson and Marcus Miller – all wrapped up in a sweetly soulful voice (think Corrine Bailey-Rae meets Gretchen Parlato), there’s no one way to define Téja’s sound. “I just want to be musically fluid,” she remarks. “I want to be relatable to everyone that happens to listen”.


Big-band jazz-bred and “old-school soul” at heart, the Miami-native [now Atlanta resident] is open to all forms of music. “If I can feel it, I can play it!” she quips. It’s this willingness to embrace all styles that have afforded Téja chances to play with artists of several genres, both on the local and industry levels. She started playing in an orchestra program in middle school on the upright bass, then transferred to a jazz program in high school - where she also picked up the electric bass guitar (as well as several other instruments). Téja started “gigging” around town when she was 16, and has been performing ever since. “I don’t like name-dropping – that’s what resumes are for” she muses, when asked who she’s worked with. “I’ll just say that I’m grateful to God for every opportunity He’s given me to perform, both great and small!”


[Artists Téja has worked with most recently include Janelle Monáe (currently serving as her touring bassist), Musiq Soulchild, Frank McComb, Kenny Lattimore, Angie Stone and Chandra Currelley - as well as her own all-woman band: VENUS].


Most recently, Téja’s drive to succeed and evolve has lead her down a new path: leadership! In April of 2019, she was hired as the newest Music Director of Decatur City Church (one of seven campuses in the North Point Ministries community; Andy Stanley, lead pastor). Téja is the both the first AfricanAmerican AND the first woman to hold this position! “I always want to stay open…I want to learn and evolve and grow…I want to break past barriers and exceed expectations!” she quips.


With years of ensemble-bass under her belt - and new job responsibilities added to her plate – Téja has [still] found time to work on a solo effort! Stepping out front is a different direction, but she’s finally ready to explore this new territory. Not only will she be playing, but writing and singing as well!


“It’s all very new for me,” Téja admits. Already accustomed to her support-role as an ensemble bassist (and occasional background vocalist), assuming the lead is a challenge. “There’s a level of vulnerability that’s required – I’m not able to hide anymore!” she laughs. “However, I know God has given me this chance to live out my dreams and a platform to share them with the world!” With her peers already lining up to work with her, Téja is excited about her forthcoming album!


“This isn’t gonna be your ‘typical bass project’” she remarks. “In fact, I won’t even categorize it. I just want to make good, honest music – stuff that your ears will love and your heart will believe!” Téja’s thoughtful melodies, warm harmonies and heartfelt lyrics have already begun to stir rumblings amongst her musical community.

With a sound as different as her name, Téja’s music is bound to stand out! Warm and light, honest and refreshing – her project is sure to find a home with many listeners! Already accustomed to her support-role as an ensemble bassist (and occasional background vocalist), assuming the lead is a challenge. “There’s a level of vulnerability that’s required – I’m not able to hide anymore!” she laughs. “However, I know God has given me this chance to live out my dreams and a platform to share them with the world!” With her peers already lining up to work with her, Téja is excited about her forthcoming album!


“This isn’t gonna be your ‘typical bass project’” she remarks. “In fact, I won’t even categorize it. I just want to make good, honest music – stuff that your ears will love and your heart will believe!” Téja’s thoughtful melodies, warm harmonies and heartfelt lyrics have already begun to stir rumblings amongst her musical community.

Anthony has successfully toured the globe impacting numerous countries and cities covering four continents. His touring of South Africa included performing with the prestigious gospel choir Joyous Celebration with five sold out shows at the Durban Playhouse Theater. Anthony currently has two songs on the Media base and BDS charts, “Jesus Will Fix It” and “You Are Amazing”. His songs “Jesus Will Fix It” is currently in high rotation on the Music Choice Satelite Network and “You Are Amazing” is currently in high rotation on XM/ Sirus Radio (Kirk Franklin’s Praise / Ch 64) as well as airplay across the nation. Anthony has successfully toured the globe impacting numerous countries and cities covering four continents. While in East Africa he collaborated with artists G-Way, Kambua, Juliani and Cooper Ssali, and was the first American to grace the stage of the East Africa’s 2012 Groove Awards. His touring of South Africa included performing with the prestigious gospel choir Joyous Celebration with five sold out shows at the Durban Playhouse Theater. The award winning Joyous Celebration Choir later released their version of Anthony’s ‘Let It All Go” single on their project JOYOUS 13 LIVE IN JOHANNESBURG.

Anthony embarked on his “Faith Tour” in 2006 – 2012, which earned him four Top 10 singles. Those singles, “Faith Remix”, “Closer”, “One Voice” and “Connection” are currently blazing throughout East Africa on major radio and television networks.

Via his own independent label, 7th Chapter Music, Anthony has four surging singles that have reached top 100 on Billboard Music Charts (You Are Amazing, Jesus Will Fix It, Let It All Go, and I Trust You). “Let It All Go” radio and video single features powerhouse vocalist Nikki Potts. Anthony also collaborates with R&B superstar A’ngela Winbush on his radio and video single “Closer”. When 'In My Shoes' was released in 2000, she performed 3 nights at the London Jazz Café, Camden, to a capacity audience showcasing the album which was released in the UK and Japan. The album quickly established itself as a classic, a combination of great songs and solid production by The Full Crew production team, and all these years later, tracks still get played on soul radio stations around the world, testament to what a good debut album that was.

Shaila embarked on trying to establish herself as a songwriter and spent the next few years being drafted in by various, different production teams to write songs for other artist projects.

After a long break from recording material for herself, she was badgered by one of the producers on her album Les Jones to write songs for herself. Once they started writing together and the buzz of being back in the studio got to her, things just snowballed from there.

Shaila then hooked up with long time friend, Everis Pellius who had produced a cut on her debut album and, Everis convinced her to write enough material for an album, hence the “Back To Life” project was born. Almost a year later the album was ready for release. As the project evolved, Phil Nugent who signed her first time around, got on board and the resulting first single “Let Me Be Yours” was released on his Rhythm imprint.

Shaila garnered lots of support on the airwaves and was played heavily across the soul music stations. The lead single, penned by Shaila, 'Let Me Be Yours', was followed up by ‘Family’ and the third single was a cover of the Sister Sledge classic ‘Thinking of you’.

Her highly anticipated album “Back to Life” was released on the 30th June 2017 and peaked at No 1 in The UK Soul Chart, Mi-Soul Connoisseurs and Sweet Rhythms Chart and spent several weeks at the summit of all of them. The album, once again, is destined to be a future classic, some truly amazing songs, compositions that will stay with you now, and for years to come.

Shaila’s creative abilities are not just restricted to writing songs, vocals and performance, she is also an enthusiastic painter working with acrylics and oils, and has created some outstanding works of contemporary art. She is planning to exhibit some of her art in the near future, and also to devote a section on her website to some of the completed pieces.
