Liberty of the Press - State Library of Victoria

Handel's Lascia Ch'io Pianga recorded a cappella in Melbourne's State Library LaTrobe Reading Room with Rebecca Morton, and then deconstructed, messed up, and overdriven to become the soundtrack for the historical celebration & fashion show called Liberty of the Press, directed by Penelope Bartlau, and performed at the State Library of Victoria on 4th Sept 2014. The drone that appears around 2.15 is actually the room tone from the Latrobe Reading Room amplified beyond measure. The vocal recordings were made with a pair of AKG C414's, set to omni, and arranged about 10 meters apart. I layered several takes together.
