This little track was made for taking part in a little contest. The rules of the contest were to use only one provided sample and only iOS device.

device used: iPad 2, iOS7
Apps used: Audioshare, Audiobus, Audiocopy, FL Studio Mobile HD, MultitrackDAW, Nave, Reforge, Samplr, Tornado

procedure: edit the provided sample in Audioshare and take two shorter (trimmed) sounds - taking random portions of the initial sample, I ended up with a 1.500 msec sample and a very short snippet of around 36 msec

The original sample and the short trimmed were both used into Samplr - the original was used in "bow" mode and a -48 pitch down to get the intro bass-o-lead sound. I used Audiobus and Multitrack to record the whole length of the bars, also using a low pass filter on it and moving up and down the frequency cut off (no automation meant I had to record all the filter changes on the actual track)
The original sample was then used also with "looper" mode and +36 pitched up to get the high ptiched violin-like lead sound
The short trimmed sound (36msec) was used in "slicer" mode, -48 pitched down, where I carefully selected even shorter slices to get the kick, the clap-like sound and the hi-hat-like sound. I used Samplr's reverb and distortion to beef em up a bit. I played the rhytm by hand but recorded the kick and clap on seperate tracks of MultitrackDAW so that I could further enhance the kick with some EQ and compression. I edited the kick loop in Reforge to trim it down to an exact 125 BPM loop. I also used another track with a high-pass filter for the "filtered" kick loop of the intro.
The hi-hat (if thats what we can call it) was also recorded on to another track. I also used Tornado here and there on it, to get some "artifacts" on the steady rhythm imposed by it.
The percusive sound entering around the middle of the tune is also made from the same sample, pitched down -15, used in "keyboard mode" and Samplr's delay.
The longer trimmed sample (1500 msec) was imported into Nave as a source for the wavetable synthesis, and after some fiddling with the parameters I was able to get a nice, sub-bass-y sound (it goes without saying that I did not use either another waveform on the second slot nor Nave's oscillators, JUST the snippet sample as a source for the wave) which would go into electro-lead dirtyness when I would open up the low - pass filter. I mapped the filter's cut off to the Nave's XYpad and recorded the whole thing on yet another track of MultitrackDAW - knowing that automation is a rare thing in iOS I wanted to create the flow of automation by recording moving parameters.
After the whole tune was done and finished, I exported it, re-imported in audioshare to use it as a "player" in audiobus, inserted Tornado as an effect and then MultitrackDAW as an output. This way I could make a "master automated FX" so I used a high pass filter and a reverb on Tornado's first XY pad to create some moments of sonic peak in the tune.
I then exported the final mixdown and imported it into FL Studio to use its limiter and its amp simulation to give it a litle power.
