Day 1 of #21DaysOfVGM Challenge!
This sketch features a couple of quests from "Quest Logs" Level 1 :

The Forgotten Beats:
Write a melody that starts on beat 2 or 3. Most melodies start on the first beat of the measure, but starting on beat 2 or 3 can create a neat sense of anticipation or surprise.

A Minor Challenge:
Compose a piece in a minor key. It doesn’t have to be any more complicated than writing a piece in a Major key, and you should be comfortable with both.

Also I played around with chord progressions in this piece.

Day 2 of #21DaysOfVGM Challenge.
I tried “Compounding the Problem” (9/8) and “Music Box” from Quest Logs Level 1!

Compounding the Problem:
Use a Compound Meter (time signature) - like 5/4, 9/8, or 12/8. You don’t hear these very often, but they can bring a strong sense of rhythm to your writing and force you to come up with new rhythmic ideas. See for an explanation of Compound Meters.
Music Box:
Compose a piece for a music box, which may also be called a “lamellophone,” “linguaphone,” or “thumb piano,” in sample libraries. Most multi-voice keyboards have an onboard music-box-sounding instrument.

I chose the following quest from “Quest Logs” Level 2 this time :

Drum Machine:
Write an entire piece using ONLY unpitched percussion instruments (that means no xylophones, pianos, etc).

I heard the sound of fireworks last night, and it reminded me of Japanese Matsuri (festivals). I used mostly Japanese percussions to kinda create the atomsphere of Matsuri!
To make it a little more fun, I made the meter 5/4.
Ei, Yah!

Day 5 of #21DaysOfVGM Challenge!
This sketch features the following quest from “Quest Logs” Level 1 :

The Julie Andrews:
Use a human voice to sing the melody of at least an entire section (not necessarily an entire track). No lyrics required - ‘Oohs’ and ‘Ahs’ can be very effective!

I recorded my voice using Blue Snowball…well, I know it’s not the best microphone to record a vocal I know, but hey, it worked!
I recorded my voice twice and layered them.

Day 6 of #21DaysOfVGM Challenge!
It's Friday, and I got this idea of using "F" as a melody with the following quest from "Quest Logs Lv 4"

Uni-pitch:
Write a melody with only one pitch. You have complete liberty with the rhythm, but once you’ve picked your pitch that’s the only one you get for the melody. Be creative with the harmonies!

So, the melody goes like this : F - F -F F F — F -F —-FF- F—….
TGIF!

This sketch features a couple of quests from "Quest Logs":

Nap Time: Write a very short (less than 10 seconds) JRPG-style music cue for sleeping at an inn.
Kickin’ it Old School: Make a chiptune track! Remember your roots and bring back some of that 8-bit flavor.

I made the modern version and 8-bit style version of the “Sleeping at an Inn” music!

Day9 of #21DaysOfVGM Challenge!
Today, I decided to do the following quests from “Quest Logs” :

Taco Cat:
Write a melody and create a song around it. A palindrome is spelled the same backwards and forwards, like “racecar,” or “taco cat!”

If it Ain’t Baroque:
Write a period piece in the Baroque style. Check out Wikipedia for guidelines on style and musical instruments of the time.

I used Harpcichord and Alto Recorder sounds.
The melody sheet music(The melody goes backwards from measure thirteen.):

Day 11 of #21DaysOfVGM Challenge and we’re halfway there!
It’s a bit weird, odd and funny one. I used the following "Quest Logs" Level 4 :

Office Space: Make an entire song using only recorded common office supplies and items. For inspiration, see Jimmy Fallon, Migos & The Roots’ performance of “Bad and Boujee”.

Instead of recording everything, I used Soundiron's Cube which includes lots of office sound effects. Also, I added some phone dial tones, and… the sound of a train which has an inverter called “Doremifa inverter”(variable-frequency drive). It's funny because it has a melody. And, in Japan, most likely you’ll go to work by train, so definitely this reminds me of “work/office". Thought this Do—remifasola—-! sounds funny and it fits this piece well.
Anyway, here’s my Day 11 track! Enjoy this weird mixture of sounds!

This sketch features the following quest from “Quest Logs" Level 3 :

Heavier Things: Write a heavy metal boss theme. Death growl = optional.

I love heavy metal and I really like hearing heavy metal tunes in games. So, today’s challenge was fun and exciting for me!
I originally made this sketch without the vocal, but once everything was done, I thought “something is missing…”!!
So, I used Evan and Aaron’s voices from “Voices OF Rage” by Soundiron (FINALLY I could get to use this library!!) and I think his voice fits this song!
Enjoy!

This sketch features the following quest from “Quest Logs” Level 2:

The Flip Side: Take a melody that you’ve written and invert it, reversing the direction of all intervals. Write a new piece based on this inversion.

I used my Day2 music box sound for this (hearthis.at/skittlegirl/day022...21daysofvgm2018), reversed the music box sound, and played the inverted melody with glockenspiel/bell sounds to go along with it.
It turned out strange and whimsical.</itunes:summary>

The Julie Andrews: Use a human voice to sing the melody of at least an entire section (not necessarily an entire track). No lyrics required - ‘Oohs’ and ‘Ahs’ can be very effective!

Originally, I was trying to work on a quest called “Deep Dive”, and then, that made me think of Siren's or mermaid's (sad) stories… and then, this a little sad sounding song was created!
Before this "21days of VGM challenge", I’ve never posted music with any vocals (other than chorus), although that has been on my To-do list for a while now. So it’s actually great, worked well for me.
One more day to go.
A bit sad to end this journey tomorrow…

It's the final day and yes, I did it, I didn't miss a day!!
Today, to celebrate the end of the journey, I chose :
——
Sweet, Sweet Victory: Write a short, celebratory fanfare to play after the successful completion of a quest or battle.
The Whole Shebang: Write a piece that utilizes all of the instruments in a modern orchestra. No whining about your sample library; this is an exercise in orchestration - NOT audio engineering. Start with a solid tune and then orchestrate - do NOT start with a blank session with every orchestra instrument because that can be incredibly overwhelming.
——
It was a fun challenge for me!
