I WAS A TEENAGE SPACE REPORTER - From Apollo 11 To Our Future in Space
Hosted by Mike Dawson (Songwriter, Composer, STEAM Advocate)
Today’s guest is David Chudwin. He’s the author of the book “I WAS A TEENAGE SPACE REPORTER “ (Published by LID Publishing)
This book is primarily about David’s experiences as a young newspaper reporter covering the historic Apollo 11 space mission for the University of Michigan paper The Michigan Daily. His informal style takes the reader back to the days when daily reality was focused on space missions to the Earth’s Moon. He was the only NASA credentialed college newspaper reporter at Cape Canaveral during the Moonshot and his book I WAS A TEENAGE SPACE REPORTER expertly chronicles his magical experiences as a 19 year old journalist.

"At the start of 16 July 1969, just after midnight, I boarded the Apollo 11 capsule to go through a several hundred item 'switch list' to assure the ship was ready for crew ingress. I was very excited to be a part of this historic mission leading to our first landing on the Moon. David's book gives one a great perspective of the excitement and experience of someone outside the Apollo Program!" - FRED HAISE, Astronaut, Apollo 11 Backup and Apollo 13 Lunar Module Pilot

Guest: Brady Blade Jr. - Drummer/Producer
Hosted by Mike Dawson (Songwriter, Composer, STEAM Advocate)
I am excited to present today’s guest, drummer/producer Brady Blade. He’s best known for recording and performing with world renowned musicians such as Emmy Lou Harris, Dave Matthews, Steve Earl, Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramhall,. And if this this list wasn't enough, Brady has make music with The Waterboys, Indigo Girls, Jewel, Patty Griffin, and Soloman Burke. The Brady family has enjoyed a long musical collaborative relationship with the Canadian music producer/songwriter/ performer Daniel Lanois.
This is one of three interviews that features the Blade musical family. While this interview is with Brady Blade (Jr.), upcoming Dreamers2Makers broadcasts will feature conversations with his brother Brian Blade and their father Brady Blade Senior. It is not an understatement to say that the Blade family is a music and artistic force on par with Bach or Gershwin.
Today’s podcast was recorded at the Blade family home in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was a great pleasure to reconnect with Brady and hear lovely stories about his family and musical life.

Guest: Pastor Brady Blade Senior
Hosted by Mike Dawson (Songwriter, Composer, STEAM Advocate)
Today’s guest is Pastor Brady Blade. He’s best known for his 58 year ministry at the Zion Baptist Church in Shreveport Louisiana and founding the legendary gospel music group The Hallelujah Train. He’s the husband of Dorthy Blade and the father of world renowned musicians Brady and Brian Blade.
It is not an understatement to state that the Blade family under the parenting of Brady and Dorthy Blade have become an artistic, musical, and inspirational tour de force equal to the Marsalis and Neville families.
This is one of three interviews that features the men of the Blade musical family. I had originally planned to conduct one interview with my friend Brady Blade Junior during a return to his childhood home in Shreveport in May 2019. While interviewing Brady Jr., he suggested that I interview his Dad, Brady Senior.
So after I wrapped the interview with Brady Junior, I rushed across town and found myself in Pastor Blade’s office surrounded by guitars, amplifiers, and books spilling from the many bookcases
My interview covered many subjects and details about his life as Pastor at the Zion Baptist Church and as singer/bass player leading The Hallelujah Train gospel group.
It was one of the highest honors of my life to interview Pastor Blade.
