<itunes:summary>Slim Jimsøhn is a character that I made up when a friend asked me to record a CD of my noodling that he could play as background while he worked. For reasons that have faded over time, I created this pseudonymous stand-in for myself. By now, a few years later, I'm happy to stand up and take responsibility for what I have wrought, but I, and my friends as well, have gotten to like old Slim. He has his own history, and a life of his own, up in Yreka, CA, near the California-Oregon border. Here's the biography I wrote for him for his "Yreka, Home At Last" CD:
Dieter, "Slim", Jimsøhn was born in 1968, the oldest son of Jurgen Jimsøhn, an alcoholic, bar-brawling taconite miner from Mountain Iron, Minnesota. Growing up 100 miles from the barren, frozen shores of Lake Superior to the east, and the trackless, unattended Canadian border to the north, Slim fled the mines at 17, walking southwest along old Route 169, bypassing Buhl and Chisholm, Hibbing and Keewatin, catching rides on ore trucks back-hauling home from the depots at Two Harbors, looking for fame and fortune. He took with him only the clothes on his back, and his guitar, the old beat-up pawn shop Martin that he still plays today. And today, from his new home in Yreka, in the wilds of far northern California, he gives these songs to you.</itunes:summary>

Lyrics:
Amy
1.Amy… are you really there?
Amy… a whisper in the air;
A sound that I hear, so soft and so clear,
Is it Amy?
A memory so dear, so far and so near,
Was it Amy?
You are a song out of rhythm and rhyme
A story from once upon a time...
Amy.

Amy… a wisp of candle light…
Amy… a shadow in the night...
You were a girl that I knew, or maybe a girl
I only thought I knew;
A radiant girl, with musical eyes,
That I want to know;
You were a song almost heard and then gone,
Like a light that goes out with the dawn,
Amy.

(bridge)
The wink of an eye , a tear and a sigh;
A promise, a lie, a final goodbye,
Here, and gone again.
I was young and afraid of the plans that we made,
I broke every rule in the the games that we played,
Once, and then again
You are the vow that I'll never fulfill,
A promise to love you until
The end.

Amy… dancing on the air,
Amy, were you ever there?
Did we kiss in the dark long ago,
Or did I just make it up?
Were we too young to feel, or know it was real...
Was it really love?
Or just a dream that I had long ago,
The truth is I'll just never know
Amy.

Lyrics:
He was just eighteen when he started to roam
Looking for things he couldn’t find at home;
At the Greyhound bus he kissed his mama ‘bye ’bye,
Shook Daddy’s hand, but couldn’t look him in
the eye.
He was chugging Rebel Yell and smoking
Mexican weed,
He was a poor wayfaring stranger, a troubadour
in need;
He was feeling sharp, singing flat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat.

He was younger than his years, just an over-
grown child,
Sleeping in the streets, living hard and running
wild;
Working when he had to, taking handouts when
he could,
Singing in the honky-tonks, like he was any
good.
He was burning up the road without a place to
go,
He was young, naive and stupid, just waiting to
get old;
He was feeling sharp, singing flat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat.

With dreams of fame and fortune, and a
woman by his side,
On the carousel of life he was waiting for a
ride;
Chasing circles in the sand, and comets in the
sky,
Flying near the sun like he was never gonna
die.
He grabbed for that brass ring like it was made
of gold,
Spinning yarns in darkened barrooms, stories
never told;
He was feeling sharp, singing flat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat.

It was 1968, the president was LBJ,
We were all pissed off and scared, with nothin’
good to say;
There was trouble all around us, and trouble
‘round the bend,
The way it looked back then, it wasn’t ever
gonna end.
With a song in my back pocket and women on
my mind,
I’m still standing by the highway, waiting to
arrive;
I’m feeling sharp, singing flat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat,
A half-pint in a ten-gallon hat

Lyrics:
"Six More Nights In Brooklyn"

I’m a barefoot boy on city streets, three thousand miles from home;
I've rode the rails, and spun some tales wherever I have roamed;
But no matter where I've traveled, no matter where I’ve been,
Truth be told, my only wish, is to get back home again.
I’m a slowed down, misplaced stranger with songs yet to be sung,
Car horns blare in smoky air, clouds cover up the sun;
These city sidewalks hurt my feet, their rhythms don’t move me,
Cause back in California is where I want to be.
Chorus:
I've got six more nights in Brooklyn, waiting all alone,
Where life is fast, and time is short and the paths are made of stone,
Folks walk by on every street, but they don’t notice me;
‘Cause there's no time, there ain't no place for a barefoot boy like me.
There’s a big wide country stretching out between my now and then,
I left a girl and my whole world, and now my heart won’t mend;
The sound of her sweet laughter echoes in my mind,
Reminding me of better days and the love I left behind;.
She filled our life with music in two part harmony,
She calmed my fears and dried my tears, she was my remedy,
But I left her for the road, and now, somehow I’ve got to see
If I can make her mine again and bring her back to me.
Repeat Chorus
Six days, a month, it’s all the same, time marked by the curtain call,
Writing rhymes to pass the time ain’t livin’ life at all;
But back in California, by the San Francisco Bay,
I’ll forget these nights in Brooklyn, and home I’m gonna stay.
Repeat Chorus

Is It Gone For Good?

Lyrics:

I was minding my own business when she walked up and   took me by the hand;
She looked me in the eye and then she told me she was looking for a man;
A man to have and hold, a man whose given word would always stand;
Then I crossed my heart and hoped to die, and told her every lie at my command.

Wondering where I am tonight, I’m looking through my memory’s lost and found;
Walking this old tightrope just to keep myself from tumbling to the ground;
I see leaves and trees and lives and tears, they’re falling all around,
So I’m going on back home again, the folks back there won’t let me down.

Refrain:
Is this real, could it be real, I wonder;
Either way it's just the same to me
But when it’s gone, is it really gone forever?
And if it’s gone, is it gone for good?

There’s music in the air tonight, and party dresses blowing in the breeze         Favorite songs from long ago, and my heart’s same old used-to-be;
We danced, we talked, we laughed, we cried, and all night long the moon ands stars agreed;
That from that day, their light would shine for all to see.

Lyrics:

I was minding my own business when she walked up and   took me by the hand;
She looked me in the eye and then she told me she was looking for a man;
A man to have and hold, a man whose given word would always stand;
Then I crossed my heart and hoped to die, and told her every lie at my command.

Wondering where I am tonight, I’m looking through my memory’s lost and found;
Walking this old tightrope just to keep myself from tumbling to the ground;
I see leaves and trees and lives and tears, they’re falling all around,
So I’m going on back home again, the folks back there won’t let me down.

Refrain:
Is this real, could it be real, I wonder;
Either way it's just the same to me
But when it’s gone, is it really gone forever?
And if it’s gone, is it gone for good?

There’s music in the air tonight, and party dresses blowing in the breeze         Favorite songs from long ago, and my heart’s same old used-to-be;
We danced, we talked, we laughed, we cried, and all night long the moon ands stars agreed;
That from that day, their light would shine for all to see.

Carolina Rain (Garageband)

This is an old song that I have re-recorded in Garageband with multiple guitar, vocal and rhythm tracks. Lyrics:
Carolina Rain
1) High wires line the road
And tell me I must get along
Tall poles mark the miles
And show me my way back home.
I’m on my way back home.
2) The radio sings to me
Sad songs of  lost yesterdays
Tunes of hearts’ regret
Of girls I left on love’s highways;
I’m on my way back home.
Chorus
I need some Carolina rain to wash me clean
Southern sun to warm my weary bones
I want to kiss my mother, shake my father’s hand,
And in the red clay dust of home I’ll make my stand.
Gas fumes cloud my mind
Good times are lost in the haze
Rolling homeward bound,
I long for childhood's happier days
I’m on my way back home.
Bridge:
So I watch the road rise up to meet me
Hoping some day that I will find
A way to live with these old memories
A way to love and still be free
