p.s. I shall leave it to enquiring minds as to what role the magic mushroom (Amanita Muscaria) might play in this. ;) But i will say.... that from time to time, `they`have sped me and many others on their way to a `different`kind of Understanding and Appreciation of what Always lies Immediately before us.

Yes! i ask... "Who among us hasn't had 'Thoughts In The Night?"
Yeah... you know... those Deep and Wide ranging ones.
The kind that all who dare to ask 'the Big Questions' entertain. :-D
The ones that fill us with Wonder, and sometimes even... Foreboding.
Like...
Wazzup?
Who am I?
Is there a Purpose ?
Am I here to Give, to Get, or just to make do?
and more....
or perhaps more simply... WTF... what did i do to get myself into this? ;)
Oh yeah... these are the kinda questions we've all pondered in the deep of the night at one time or another, right? :D
And... in my eXperience, this is a Good Thing!
if we go deep enough in our Self-Reflections...
there ARE Answers!
Yes! and they can help us set a 'moral compass' for ourselves.
And luckily...
They are within us!
beyond 'book-learnin', beyond anyone else's power to answer.
We are like 'Deep Wells' of living water.
All we have to be willing to do is 'let it come out', 'let it nourish whatever environment we find ourselves in.'
In any case, i'm writing this to give you something nutritious to read while listening! ;) :-D
This little Piano Improvisation embodies my 'Thoughts In The Night'.
i find... that as i meditate on such things as i play my Piano, it never lies to me. It helps me 'commune' with the Cosmos. ;)
It best describes my approach to the instrument. And that's why i have called this Genre- 'Mystical Piano'.
Anyway... as you listen.. (and please..put it on repeat) i hope you'll 'hear' some of your questions, and maybe an answer or two as well! ;)
So, let the Questions...AND the Answers come! :D

I guess... this would also include what we've eXpressed non-verbally in the moment... via Thought, Feeling, or over those Invisible Cords of Connection we share with friends and loved ones around the globe.
That said... here's my latest 'Sound Seed' folks.
In fact, it's a simple little Piano Improv with some island friends backing me up with Guitar and Bass a few days back. Stretch out...and inJOY!

I guess... this would also include what we've eXpressed non-verbally in the moment... via Thought, Feeling, or over those Invisible Cords of Connection we share with friends and loved ones around the globe.
That said... here's my latest 'Sound Seed' folks.
In fact, it's a simple little Piano Improv with some island friends backing me up with Guitar and Bass a few days back. Stretch out...and inJOY!
Cheers!

Yet, in the brisk Clarity of Green's stark absence, i feel the Creative Fires stirring within me. And i Know that before winter steals over the land, i shall be inspired to create Wondrous things, and Delight in them all. :))

Just a brief liner note here.
I decided to let this Chilled Piano piece (with a dash Spiced Rubato*) flow on for a while.... in the hope that within the 7 minute 11 second improvisation you could easily relax...... and sink into the contemplative vibe i'm layin' out here. :)
So yeah, unwind.......
and let your mind 'n heart fill in the visuals,
as you join me in my latest Tonal n Rhythmic adventure. :-D
Warmest Regards,
~ Gary
*One interpretation of the musical term, 'Rubato', means....
'Stolen Time'.... ;)

Here's a little JaZz PiANo Sunshine to inJOY. After all, Spring is Coming soon! The tune was born of "What She Said". But don't tell anyone, O.K. ;)
I am totally delighted that over 88,000 + Sound-Clouders have inJoyed this tune over the past months. :-D And Wow... this past week or so has been absolutely Unprecedented in my world, (with over 55,000 having a listen in the past 2 weeks)! :))
An Improv like this puts huge sMILEs in my heart. Thank you to everyone who has listened, reposted, and inJOYed!
For more of my JazZ Piano pieces go to soundcloud.com/gary-courtland-...e-chilled-piano
In-deed. On June 27th 2016 my dear friend SAM 'the man' PROCK @art-of-nonsense has made it the lead off tune in his Jazz It Up -Life is SaX Playlist (soundcloud.com/art-of-nonsense...lues-silent-zen ) and now, who knows how far and wide it will go. Thanx a milion Sam! :-D
Here's what one of you listeners said....
" This tune reflects the best elements of jazz - flowing sounds from improvisation - the search through music for greater connection - a communication never quite the same twice. There is a give and take between artist & listener that makes the human condition universal and dynamic. The musicianship makes it all the more personal. To me, your tune embraces all that. "
Wow! Thank you Harry @Hverheij !
(I'll include that in the liner notes for my upcoming album. :)
Again peeps... Many Many Thanks to each and all for listening, appreciating, commenting, Re-Posting, and 'Sharing the JoY'.
Cheers Always! :))

DISSILIENCE

This track is perhaps the shortest piece of music i've ever written...however, it has been described by one SC singer/songwriter as definitely " possessing the 'wow' factor' - with angelic music, floating voices, and whirling tempos." Gotta love that description! :-D
I didn't know it whilst creating it, but this composition was destined to expand into a 3 part Suite called ' SUITE DISSILIENCE' (See my track list). There you can hear Sirius Dissilience, and Whirlwind.
However... The Seminal piece in this Suite is definitely this one! It was originally composed and arranged for Organ, Voice, and Percussion. But along came a few other orchestral elements. Ha! really...where would we be without ' the Strings' Family! ;-)
My original working title on this one was - the Voice of Spring - but after hearing it back many times, i realized that it represents a fairly accurate Sonic Picture of what i mean by my own word - Dissilience -" To burst forth "...as in the massive budding of flowers in Spring, the creation of Suns and Galaxies, or the instant a seed becomes a plant ! Or..a 'Sound-Seed' a fully orchestrated piece of Music! :-D
O's vocals certainly add VOLUMeS to this description! :)I owe her a whole lot on this one!
It is that 'essence' of 'bursting forth' which I always seek to find, experience, explore, and to somehow re-create... again and again in as many new and unique forms as possible. Yes..that's exactly what 'seeds' are here for! And this includes ' Sound-Seeds' !;-)
